Worst place I ever lived

The price is cheap, but you get what you pay for. The apartment is poorly constructed and maintained; when I moved in, there was a crack above my air conditioner, the weatherstripping for the door leaked terribly, none of the closet doors worked properly, and things have been falling apart one after another. Management lost my employment verification form twice, and when I got it the third time found out that they'd found one and hadn't told me about it. Maintenance is difficult to get a hold of, and rarely fixes anything in a timely manner, or the first time around. Management has a habit of announcing routine maintenance at the last minute or not at all. On more than one occasion I've stepped out of the shower to find a non-uniformed contractor inside my apartment unannounced.

Requests to enter the apartment are highly unreasonable. In one case, I came home to find a sheet of paper on the ground (it had been put stuck in my door in the middle of a thunderstorm), dated for the year before, asking me to unplug and move everything that could be blocking an electrical outlet because they were going to replace all of them sometime in the next three days, and to secure any pets and make arrangements to have somebody in the apartment if I wished.

Maintenance will readily schedule work to be done at a certain time (nobody unknown to me comes in my apartment while I'm not around), and then ignore it and do it on their own schedule while you're gone anyway. This not only invades my privacy, but threatens my pets; one day they came and worked on my door unannounced and left it wide open with pets inside.

Noise levels at times are very unreasonable, and this is compared to what I became accustomed to living in an FSU dorm and then nearby apartment complex. Any attempt to resolve this after asking your neighbor to turn it down only results in being sent back and forth between the apartment complex and JSO, both of whom refuse to do anything about the situation.

Management as a whole is rude and unhelpful, and tends to take a "that's your problem" approach to issues with tenants. I fully understand that these apartments aren't exactly classy, and neither are the majority of the tenants, but that doesn't excuse treating me like crap when I walk in the door with a valid complaint.

Beware of parking--there is plenty of it, but the apartment has no issues with towing away cars without notice for little or no reason. They have a contract with Duval Towing, which in my experience with towing places (which is fairly extensive, live in Tallahassee and you'll have plenty of people needing a ride to go get their car back), is the most absolute lowlife scum of the earth place I've ever set foot in. My car was towed, without notice, for not having a current tag (the registration was current, I was having problems getting my sticker from the DMV through no fault of my own, and I could have cleared this up with the apartments had they asked), and I was charged over $200 to get it back. I was told by management I was SOL, my car was not "street legal" and could therefore be towed at my expense. Meanwhile, the parking lot is half full of heaps of scrap metal that were not towed because nobody would come pay to get them back; this was done strictly for profit, not property improvement.

As far as the rest of it goes, security is nonexistent (never seen one guard, despite being told many times one was on his way), the pools are dirtier than the roadside ditches, and the laundry rooms are adequate. The location is convenient, and the area isn't nearly as bad as it's made out to be. The problem here is management, plain and simple.

i have never lived in these apartments, but i had a boyfriend there, and i did stay over-i have a small child-and anyone thinking of moving here with children-DON'T! people have been killed there, and with my own eyes i have seen seringes on the sidewalk among many other things. please for your own safety and the safety of your chrildren-this is NOT a "friendly" place. that's my opinion and just please think about it.
