I moved in Lighthouse Bay 10 months ago. The apartment I was going to move into fell through at the last moment, so I rushed over here and was able to move in quickly. I thought it was nice at first, the model is very cute and the apartments by the office are well kept.
The good: My actual apartment is very nice. I really lucked out. My neighbors are quiet (the exception, holidays, Superbowl, etc) and very nice. My power bill is low, I can always find a parking spot. Maintanence people are very nice.
The bad: Everything else. Water is turned off without any notice often, due to pipes bursting. Laundry room, machines are always broken, no matter how many times I call the office and the laundry company to fix it. There are a ton of swimming pools- but call me a snob, I'd never swim in one here! Always disgusting, cloudy water, with hair, cigarette butts, and trash in the pools. And tons of kids swimming unsupervised. Water has come up through my sink numerous times, flooding my apartment and the last time, took 3 days to fix (no cooking, washing dishes, etc). The carpet in my dining room in ruined (which I am sure I will be charged for) because of the air conditioning leaking, or the pipes. It always seems wet and they won't do anything about it. It took 3 weeks to get the track of one of the kitchen doors fixed.
My apartment was broken into and my computer was stolen (the took my patio doors off the track- how can this happen and no one see it'). My car was broken into, and my grill was stolen off my patio. I'm good friends with the police now. They complain they hate this area- the talk the management about making improvements, like more lights in the parking lot, but they won't do it. I hear gun shots at night. My car was illegally towed also and I had to fight tooth and nail, bring in the police, threaten to go to court, to get my $200 back. Management is not friendly, always rude no matter how nice I am to them.
I'm a full time student and this is all I can afford right now. I wouldn't recommend this community to anyone who could afford something better.
