I survived 6 years in this place,and saw the ups and downs. In 1998, there was not a better value apartment on the Southside. A 1br/1ba 710 sq ft apartment WITH a WD connection - unheard of. Nice, well kept grounds, and a world class fitness center with Nautilus equipment, treadmills, free weights, indoor HEATED swimming pool, and 2 saunas (yeah, at that dump!) Once the property was sold in 03', the sprial of questionable people and danferous living began. Get out now, or never enter, as it may apply. Police Discover Body In Car Trunk At Southside Apartments

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Homicide detectives are on the scene of a suspicious death on Jacksonville's Southside.

The scene was the 8000 block of Atlantic Boulevard at the Lighthouse Bay Apartments, where according to police, a body was found in the trunk of a car.

Police said they did not know how long the car was parked at the apartment. They were led to the vehicle by neighbors who started to smell a stench.

Some neighbors told Channel 4 they smelled the unpleasant odor as early as Tuesday morning.

Police said by the look of the body the person may have been dead for one or two days.

"Well with the heat, it makes it a little more difficult. But the medical examiner's office is, of course, work on this. They'll tell us the cause of death and how long the body had been in there," said Sgt. Andre Ayoub of the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.

The police have not said whether the deceased person was a man or a woman because they want to identify the person and contact the next of kin before releasing that information.

A car dealership owner was also at the scene talking to police. Detectives were hoping he could help them determine who owned the car, and whether the person found dead had anything to do with vehicle.
