Londontowne Apartment complex in Jacksonville Florida is BY FAR the worse living experience that I have had the misfortune to endure. I leased an apartment in Londontowne on 9/06, and 2 months later my apartment was infested with mice! I'd make a complaint, and Londontowne would send out a guy with 'bait'. He would then proceed to throw 'bait' all over my apartment, and that 'bait' became the very thing the provided nourishment for the unwelcome vermin. At one point, the 'exterminator' told me that I had 'at least 14-20 mice', and that he'd never seen anything like that. Londontowne did NOTHING to rectify the issue! There were mouse dropping ALL OVER THE PLACE. The most upsetting of those many places was my 5 month old daughter s room. The smell was unbearable throughout the entire apartment, and was nearly becoming the norm for my family. After months of numerous complaints (to no avail) -- I was absolutely fed up with the Londontown run-around . One might ask, 'why not leave'' Unfortunately, things were complicated, and my finances (at the time) simply did not permit me to up and leave despite the horrid living conditions. I decided to conduct research to find the correct way to handle this issue. I decided to serve Londontowne with a '7 Day Notice' per Florida Statues 83.201, which practically states rent should be lowered to reflect the value of the occupied property. Surely 14 or so mice and the stench of a thousand mice droppings lowers the value of an apartment right' I thought so too. The final slap in the face was when Londontowne decided to counteract my claim with an eviction notice. I was prepared to fight them in court until a technicality slipped through the cracks and bit me you know where. I wasn't aware that I was supposed to deposit the withheld rent monies into the court registry. You see...I didn't get the notice to do so UNTIL A DAY PRIOR TO THE DEADLINE. Londontowne certainly got away with proverbial murder on this one, but I'm set on making people fully aware of the type of environment they place themselves into when renting from Londontowne. Sure prospective renters are aware of the thugs, drug dealers, theives, unruly children, etc; -- heck my rims were stolen off my 2007 Scion tC in front of my apartment on Thanksgiving night. However, what you don't expect is that management of such a place would be just as cruel, shiesty, and malicious as some of the aforementioned tenants. There is a happy ending to this story though, as I have just purchased a 3/2 luxury condo in Ortega. Furthermore, the point of this write up is not saturated with vengeance or malice. It is simply a warning that potential and current Londontowne tenants should heed or at least consider. Hopefully I can save a family a lot of unwanted grief -- That is truly my purpose.
