WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW: The Real, Unexaggerated Review
From: polyhymnia1@aol.comDate posted: 8/27/2006
Years at this apartment: 2006 - 2006
Okay, I know everyone always expects apartment reviews to be exaggerated and extra bad, but I must enlighten you all about my experiences here and whether or not you decide to move in is up to you, but I will tell both the good and bad. Starting with the bad:
ROACHES: These apartments have tons of roaches. Everytime I walked into my door there was a roach. And I finallly figured out why: they do not clean out the air vents. I opened up my air vent and chunks of years worth of dirt fell out on me, as well as dead roaches and two living ones.
SOLUTION: If you move here, check out the vents and request that they clean them and that you get mesh screens or filters to prevent other roaches from other apartments from coming into yours.
RESIDENTS: Most of the residents seem to be --------. There is nothing wrong with that, I think -------- sometimes get a bad reputation as undesireable neighbors. So what I'm about to say doesn't apply to all -------- just the ones I"ve seen so far living here. The problem emerges with some of the habits of many of the -------- living in this neighborhood. First, many of the men hang outside in their trucks playing loud music at all hours of the day and sometimes at night. Late at night they don't do it as much but during the day and until around 11 pm, they blast music out of their apartments and trucks. Secondly, many of the men walk around and ride on their bikes with no shirts on. There are also loose dogs allowed to run around with no leash that poop all over the complex.
"NEWLY RENOVATED": The apartments look pretty clean and do have new tile and paint and carpet. But some of the work is poor. Someone painted a bug into my bathroom cabinet. Also, make sure they really clean up--check behind your oven(mind was dirty and had dead roachers back there) and the fridge.
But for high-500s these are some nice looking (on the inside and outside) small apartments.
LAUNDRY ROOMS: These are disgusting, they smell just like sweat. There is nothing good I can say about the laundry room, I get my stuff cleaned somewhere else.
OFFICE STAFF: The office staff seems very nice and helpful. They are really great people, they should just take a more hands on approach to regulating loose dogs, dog poop, and the noise level...Plus, I just don't like the fact that teams of men get to hang out outside with no shirts on. That just seems a tad bit disrespectful to me.
OVERALL: I would NOT recommend moving here. You'll like it at first b/c of the renovations, then the roaches, shirtless men staring at you, loud music all day, loose dogs, and general smell of dog poop will get to you. If you emerge from anything remotely like a middle class background you won't like this place and will be embarrassed by living here. Sunbeam Road is generally a place to stay away from--ot move into somewhere like Leigh Meadows or Thomas Chase. They are just a few bucks more(10-15 dollars) with bigger rooms--and while they may have some section 8 housing, they are definitely not as loud and they are a nicer/newer set of apartments with fewer people hanging outside shirtless.
Please email me if you have any questions, I would be happy to help you.
