I'm pretty sure Vanessa is the person that works in the office to renew leases. I mean, who makes friends with the office staff and even if you do because the sources of friends are just lacking elsewhere, who the heck visits their friends at WORK a few times a week especially when most of them can be reached after work since a majority of them live in this complex. Besides that, her review seems a little bias, i.e. if you're friends with the office staff, then of course they're going to be nice to you. This is a business and if Melrose a.k.a. The District wants customers, then they should be nice to their customers regardless and try THEIR best to resolve the issues. I currently live here and I really have had no problems with the staff but I can't say they go out of their way to be nice. If anything, they seem misinformed or not fully informed to all that they should be informed on. For example, one staff told an anonymous resident here that they don't have HBO because that isn't provided here when clearly it was on their website (use to be until they realized that not all residents got it). HBO was listed as a selling point in living here and was even verbally expressed by Brian (the manager) when I moved in but beware because not all the residents will have access to this and if you take the issue up to the office they tell you to call the cable provider. And btw, the cable provider has said that HBO is not offered here, so why do some get it and not all, and how can they list it as a selling point' The bottom line is that they can't do this so they took this selling point down from their website although some still get it. And if you signed up with promises of it and you're not getting it now, then you're not ever going to get it. Another broken promise from a selling point from when I first moved in has been that the Gym is 24hrs. It's been several months now, like over 12, and I don't think they'll ever go back to being 24 hrs. The tennis court has it's lights out on one side and has been for over 5 months. I had to wait over 45 minutes for non-residents to finish up their game to play a round. I only knew that they were non-residents because when they were done, they hopped the fence to get to their cars to leave. Maintenance on average takes about 2-3 weeks for a response. Since I've been here, two residents have died that I know of and two robberies have occurred that I know of. I've been here about a year now and can't wait to move out. This place rips you a new butthole with their rent too. Two bedroom apartments go for a combined $1200 not including utilities. It is far better, like far as in the east is from the west, to get roommates on your own at school, online, work, friend of a friend, and even an enemy and live with them in other places that charge around $800-$900 for luxury apartments then live here for that price! Especially when roommate matching is joke. I wanted quiet, clean, and non-smoking for my matching and my roommate(s) is/are all the opposite to that, and I like my roommate(s). I can go on and on but I'm getting tired of the negativity that this place is stirring within me so I'll post more another time.

My friend lived there for 5 years and he's very glad to be gone. I visited Melrose for most of the time he lived there and the comments are true. Hope you find somewhere better, but steer clear from Lighthouse Bay, The Columns, and Preserve at St. Nicholas!
