My family and I lived here in 2004. Besides being the only white family it seemed, the neighbors were rude and management is VERY nosy. This is a dangerous side of jacksonville!!! Do Not move to the northside if you don't have to. We had a pipe bust in the wall in the hallway, it rotted out the wall and the carpet!! there was mold every where! the maintance man just brought a fan in to dry it up, then never came back to fix it!. Plus, the "lake" has no fencing or saftey features for children. Please Please remember that most every apartment is going to look nice before you move in. It will have clean carpet and fresh paint. Just because it looks nice, doesn't mean it REALLY is. Dig deeper into where you are going to live before you sign that lease. (and having all white management and mainly black tenants should fill you in on the power trip the office has) we broke our lease after 6 months and got the hell out of there!

Wow, the only white family? I guess more of you would have made the place just like heaven :( Also, this is not the "dangerous" side of Jacksonville. I don't know whether to tell you to stop or start watching t.v. Or just move a little more north to be with the rest of your so-called kind.

This family clearly did not feel comfortable in an environment where they were an ethnic minority. In all of our time in Northlake we never felt remotely unsafe or threatened. As for the management, they never seemed anything more than friendly to me. The North Side of Jax has had a bad rap as long as I can remember, when we first moved in people always made remarks about the safety of the "North Side" but as long as I've lived here I have never felt uncomfortable be it in the apartment complex or walking up the road to the pharmacy.
