This is horrible. So, if I lived there, Mr. Bruley could no longer come to my aid? Forget it! He shouldn't have been let go, and should instead be the employee of the month (or the year!) He may have saved a resident's life, and this is the thanks he gets? I hope he finds a better employer. My hat is off to you, Mr. Bruley.

I intend to use my influence as a radio broadcaster to promote the fact that The Oaks at Mill Creek is hostile to fundamental American principles (such as the right to keep and bear arms and the right to life), and that they care more about obedience to mindless bureaucratic rules than herois gestures like saving someone's life (or leg). reprehensible!

If the public who read and agree that Mr. Bruley shouldn't have been fired for coming to the aid of another human being, then let them boycott this Apartment Company and their management. It's apparent that this Complex provides no Security Officer for the tenants. If they did I'm sure Mr. Bruley would have had someone call them. It is the negligence of this company for not making sure that the tenants have someone to contact in case such an devastating event takes place. Shame on you. If Mr. Bruley is smart he will retain and attorney and sue you (the Manager) for wrongful termination of his employment. I wonder if the same would have happened if it were you the manager who were shot and Mr. Bruley came to your aid in the same manner as he did this time?

no rent until they repent

WOW - I scratched this place off my list. People lack common sense these days.

WOW, exactly what we need. An armed vigilante running around an apartment complex full of families and children. What did he plan on doing? Have a shoot out in the middle of the complex? A tourniquet? Where there is severe bleeding from an artery, you should always control it by direct pressure and elevation, and then, only if necessary, at a pressure point, and only as a last resort use a tourniquet. Seems like he only made matters worse. I don’t seem to be reading anything about the police or paramedics claiming this guy is a hero. No one seems to be explaining WHY the girl was shot anyway.

If I were a resident of that complex I would forfeit my lease and leave. My financial loss would be worth leaving asinine company policies. Now Village Green is hiding behind bureaucratic rules regarding safety. I wonder what the CEO would think of his rules it that was his daughter that had been wounded and was bleeding profusely? What if his employee followed procedure then? A person with that kind of wound will bleed out in the average response time of emergency services. All Village Green properties are subject to these policies, so tenants beware.

I called Colin Bruley, the hero that was fired, and discovered some interesting facts that have not been widely publicized in the media. At the time, he was on Family Medical Leave. As it was 2:00 in the morning and he was on leave at the time from his job as a leasing agent, it is clear that he was not acting as an employee and that this was where he lived, more than where he worked. He has had training in the proper handling of firearms and has had some emergency medical training. Based on the statements form the management, it is clear that if the police and EMS do not get to you right away, they would rather you die than be saved by one of their employees (on or off duty) or even one of their residents even if they do not work for the company. I would not want to live in any of their communities. This is a heartless bunch of people that care more about their liability than they do about the lives of the people that live in their apartments. As a former police officer, I can tell you that I was always thankful for a hero like Colin Bruley.

Reading these comments made me want to write something that has been bothering me for quite a while. My friend has been living in these apts for quite some time and do to a car accident she has to park in handicap. That was ok for while until someone else moved in that also needs the one parking space. We went to the office and spoke to the previous manager Bonnie a copy of her placard was taken for her file. Bonnie called her and told her that she had all the materials to put up a second place. This has not happen yet, the new mgmt said they had not seen any materials, but would ck on it, that was in april when she renewed her lease. The claims adjuster came looking for her car and she had to park by another building and walk home in the dark using a cane. The insurance man told her attorney and we want her to file some kind of charges or Tell Ken Amaro to come out to see this. These people have to take turns parking in the one space and most of the times because of her work schedule she does not get to park there! If that is not enough she had a upstairs neighbor that "constantly" made a lot of noise she complained to Bonnie and previous leasing agents. They told her told call the police and they would also contact tenant. This went on for months this person would start stomping up and down knocking her mirrors and pictures off the wall. Whenever she called the police as soon as they left she would really start the stomping. New Year's Eve she started moving out, but as you can guess not until she had stomped and kicked until the police had to come twice. I said all that to say now that Colin is no longer there she is a victim walking in the dark home since he would not be able to come to the aide of her screams! She is looking a for a more understanding place to live!

There is no doubt who is the villain in this case, its village green, to begin with we have a right to bear arms and protect ourself or others from harm, when you hear the gunshot and screaming you have two choices, stay in your apartment and call police and hope they arrive quick enough to save the victim or try to take action and help someone. Well obviously only the bravest of people would choose the second choice, but with that being said you have the right to protect yourself when you believe you life may be endanger. This is a brave act for someone to put his life on the line and help save this women from bleeding to death or losing a leg. Think hard before critizing someone is this situation, this is a split second decision with extreme violence involved. I know one thing Tonnetta and her family sure is happy Colin came over to help. Please help these victims by donating and visiting www.supportcolin.org Thanks Claude Cote
