I wouldn't live here again!

I have been a resident for a year and half. In agreement with another comment on this page, the first two months were pretty good. However, I happen to live next to the trash compactor. Shortly after I moved in, it broke. The management resorted to garbage dumps right outside of my back door. We like opening the windows, but due to the stench, I was unable to do this for almost 6 months. They claimed the repair part was coming from Australia, I don't think shipping takes 6 months. Nevertheless, I dealt with it, knowing there wasn't much I could do.
Over the course of the first year, several problems occurred within my apartment. My oven doesn't function properly, keeping every temperature setting at a steady 450 degrees. They 'replaced' the thermometer in it and, of course, it still doesn't work. All of my faucets drip endlessly. The master tub has been clogged since I moved in and I have used everything to no avail. There is mold on the porch walls and in the air conditioning duct work. The air conditioner drain (or condenser) has backed up twice in the past 4 months causing my laundry room and carpet in the entry way to flood. Of course, they don't dry it out for you, just vacuum the water that's visible and leave the rest for you to clean.
After all this, when it came to renew my lease, I didn't want to pay the added expense of another deposit and pet fees to move elsewhere, so I tried to negotiate. Based on all of these happenings, you would think some consideration would have been made. NOPE! I was flat out told, the apartments are in too high of a demand for it to be necessary to negotiate my rent (which, by the way, went up from $779 to $839 to two bedrooms) and that I could just move if I wanted.
It has been but 6 months since that conversation and now they are begging for referrals, paying up to $300 per move-in. OH!!!! AND, I now have TERMITES in & outside of my apartment. We found that out when I accidently knocked the door jam to my laundry room leaving one morning and it fell apart. I advised the maintenance staff and front office. They did 'another treatment' but have yet to do any repairs.
OH, AND DID I MENTION THERE WAS A SHOOTING HERE ABOUT 7 MONTHS AGO! This place has gone to hell in a handbasket fast. I will be out of here as soon as I find the right house. Or, I MAY JUST CALL THE CITY BUILDING INSPECTOR AND SEE WHAT THEY HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THIS PLACE! uWDgQKY3Vkv8FKIsB8Ax

I also have mole in my air condition ducts, and on my carpet now, thanks to two air conditioning leaks. they fixed the leaks but now there is watermarks on the wall and the carpet, i'm willing to bet there's a feast of mold in the walls as well. I am sick and now allergic to my place. If you want to get in calling a city building inspector and inspecting for mold i will help you, just post back on this! I signed my lease 2 days after there was a robbery at gun point (april 2008) and am trying to get out without paying the 1000 dollars. Otherwise, the place is great besides the mold!!
