On our move in day, the problems began. Our garbage disposal spewed dirty water all over our sink, our guest bathroom toilet didn't work properly and our sink leaked. Initially our problems were fixed fairly quickly, however the more time that we've lived here, the longer it takes for maintenance problems to be addressed.
In April our air conditioner began to malfunction, our apartment was so hot that my chocolate chips melted in my pantry. However, management merely said that "they had done all they could". Our electric for a small 2 bed/2bath apartment rose to $106 a month. Our a.c was set to 65, yet the thermometer gave the inside temperature as being 90. It is now July and our ac has yet to be fixed. My roomate and I finally bought a window air conditioning unit, so that our apartment could be somewhat cooler. COnsidering the fact that this problem began a month after we moved in, it is absolutely ridiculous that it has yet to be fixed.
Additionally there are bugs everywhere. Big roaches and hairy spiders. In fact, we've had the pest control people at our apartment nearly every week and yet just yesterday there was a worm on my bed and a roach in my bathroom. Our garbage disposal is constantly broken, and the ducks poop all over the outside of our apartment. The complex spends so much money making the outside look appealing to potential renters that it negelects the people that actually live here. The only garbage dumpster is at the front of the complex, and it's always overflowing. The washer and dryer unit that is now installed into most apartments doesn't dry the clothing, rather it steams it, so that when you reach in to retrieve your dried clothing, you get a pile of hot damp clothes that don't dry for several hours after you remove them from the unit.
Finally, while the actual maintenance people are very friendly, the management seems to have a different agenda than that which they are supposed to have...running a clean, safe, and effective community at the Palms at Beach Blvd.
