Portofino is definitely not the worst place Ive lived. Its actually one of the better places Ive dealt with.
If you're looking for a great "roommate" layout, however, keep on driving. One roommate gets the posh, 2-sink bath complete with garden tub, walk in closet and seperate toilet room, while the other gets a tiny bath with no counter space, no drawers and small closet.
I would say that this is an average community who tries to come off as "upscale" but its residents leave something to be desired. The Jaguar football players who live there have kept me up many nights, and asking them to tone it down at 4AM was worthless. Yet the staff is enthusiastic that these partiers choose Portofino as their residence! Great. Terrific. Wow. Remind me of that after my architectural firm is chosen to design Portofinos new expansion phase.
The parking is pretty close to terrible. Unless you are home at 5:15, youll be walking a good distance to get to your door. Not the safest feeling at night.
The pool parties are a great touch, and the property is decently maintained. The pool was closed quite a few times which was annoying, and think twice about having a romantic late night in the hot tub with your sweetie. The nosey residents around the pool, no matter how quiet you are, feel it is their obligation to be the pool police. At my age, I am hardly a threat!
However, weve had some issues with the construction. I am suprised to hear they brag about their construction, when working in architecture, its close to the worst Ive seen. The insulation is horrible, and you can hear EVERYTHING. Ive also heard they had some "underlying" issues, but thats just hearsay. Studs are...um, distant. Dont knock too hard.
I completely agree with the consumer who said the apartment layouts were "weird"...they are. Not the best use of space, but I know the model I saw looked much nicer in the layout than what I ended up with.
As far as maintenece, most of the time it was timely, but once we were without electricity for over 24 hours in the winter.
They put us up in the model, which was nice, but inconvenient when they couldve fixed it during the day, but didnt make it a priority.
