This is the most unsafe place to live. I lived there for a year. In the time of the year there were motorcycles stolen, a woman killed in my building and just this weekend, another person is dead. I would say I would rather spend more money to know I am going to live in a safer environment. I know Jacksonville is not the safest place, but 2 dead people in 1 year. Kindof scary situation. I was a single female living in these apartments.

Unfortunately the apartment owners, office staff cannot secure our safety from who we bring into the apartment complex and that will go for wherever we choose to stay. What if they guy next to you has had on overall background check and it's good but his friends who he invites into our complex has one, he's a thief, a murderer, sells drugs is that at the fault of the complex? I don't think so. This shooting happened not inside of our complex but outside of the complex due to our secure fencing the shooter was not able to actually get into the fence and unfortunately they decided to shoot from outside of the fence? How is this the apartment owners fault? When we allow ourselves to know the wrong kind of people and into our lives, know where we reside etc.. this then brings those bad people into everyone else's lives that lives around us. I don't go and visit my grandmothers and some friends too often because they stay in neighborhoods that these kind of people live and visit. I know that my family has friends, and influential people of this nature so I tend to not hang around them and or disassociate myself with. But how can we do that living in this apartment complex? The owners of this building cannot do background checks on friends and family. If people want to keep themselves safe and those they associate with they must learn how to choose their friends and or lifestyles a little more wisely.

I happen to live in these apartments and have lived there for the past 2 years. These apartments are not a bad place to live. I have to say that we bring the drama and the people with the drama to our area. If you read the reports about the lady that was killed this past sat then you would know that the shooting took place outside of the apartment complex. This had nothing to do with the apartments itself. We cant even say if anyone who stays in the apartments even had anything to do with the shooting. I have been in Jacksonville for 2 years now and to me no one place seems 100% safe. The crime rate here seems so high. Yes if yu pay a little more in rent it may be a little safer but you can not be sure of that.

SOMEONE HAS BEEN KILLED?? IN WHAT APARTMENT?? MY HUBBY AND I ARE MOVING IN THIS WEEKEND AND I REALLY WOULD PREFER NOT TO LIVE IN AN APARTMENT WHERE SOMEONE HAS DIED!! CAN ANY 1 TELL ME WHAT APARTMENT THESE PEOPLE HAVE DIED IN?? OMG!! ROACHES ARE GROSS!!! I HOPE OUR APARTMENT ISN'T INFESTED WITH THEM!!! I AM A NARC AND I HAD BETTER NOT FIND OUT ABOUT DRUG USERS ON THE PROPERTY!! ALSO WE WILL HAVE OUR OWN PARKING PLACE IN FRONT OF OUR PLACE!! ALSO I HAVE FRIENDS AT THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT WHERE I USE TO WORK!! SO PEOPLE YOU CAN SAY A NEW WIND IS A BLOWING INTO TOWN!!

I agree with sweetblackk 100%. Unfortunately I heard it was a little girl who was killed from inside her apartment since they were shooting from outside the complex. 2 people dead is bad in one year, but that's a whole lot less than compared to shootings in other places. I really don't think this area is a bad place. We just have -------s like these everywhere and there isn't much we can do to avoid that except having cops come here 24/7, but you know that can't happen. People complain about how the outer 2 gates are always closed, and I'm glad they are. Imagine what would've happened if anyone can get into here without calling their tenant friend or using the card to get in. Having the place fenced would've been pointless. Its unfortunate how things happen, but there's even crime in Southside. I've seen way worse, and not in FL. I lived in NJ and I have friends in Newark and its a million times worse where things like this happen every single day without exaggeration. We're lucky Jacksonville isn't half as horrible as Newark. And that ------- who shot up the place will pay for it soon enough.

And to CutiePatooty: Since the shooting took place on the street pointing towards the apartment, I think the person got killed inside the building that's next to the tennis court. I don't have any problems with roaches at all. I also despise drug users, but I'm getting suspicious of this one lady who just moved in because supposedly she is or looks like a crackhead (or so they say). I hope that's nto the case. I wish not to worry so much about it since I have a cop who lives a few doors away from me. About the parking spots....I wish we had assigned parking spots. I'm sick and tired of not having any close spots because visitors took up the residents' spaces, and I have to end up parking all the way down by the fence that's right by the Heritage apt. I think we should all do a petition and hand it in to the office so we can have at least one assigned parking for each apartment.
