Preserve at Cedar River

The apartments are a good size for the price, which is what drew my husband and I. This is our first apartment, we've lived here a little over a year and a half. We're moving, due to the military, and can't wait to be out of here. A list of our problems: 2 weeks after moving in our "brand new carpet" had black stains EVERYWHERE! Where did they come from' No clue! It looked like someone had poured black mud all over the carpet. I shampooed the carpets MYSELF 3 times and the stains are STILL there. When we signed our new lease they sent someone in to shampoo our carpets, guess what' There are STILL stains.
Next, first big summer storm led to a puddle of water in our dining room. We're on the bottom floor so it couldn't have come from the roof, well apparently it came from underneath us. It was about a foot wide and long and when you stepped on it the water came up OVER your toes. Maintenance came quickly and vacuumed the water up. Haven't had a problem since.
Also, walls are horribly thin. We've been woken up countless times by our neighbors dogs and alarm clocks. The noise is not so great. We've had to go outside numerous times to ask the neighbors that are hanging out on the streets to be quiet so we can sleep. We've witnessed countless arguments between women, men, and couples.
Lets not forget the driveby in December 07. I didn't know about it until a few weeks afterwards because at the time I was working nights, but it definitely has me scared still. As a young woman with late working hours, Im often afraid to get out of my car to walk to my apartment because of all the random men I see walking around the complex at night.
I have seen loose dogs running around before, without owners. On two occasions Ive noticed a pit bull just running through the apartments. But its not something that is terrible.
Great access to the river, but thats about the only thing we like anymore. The maintenance staff has been good to us, but we often talk to them. The pools were all shut down for about 2 weeks this past summer, but one of them is always closed due to "black algae." The gates hardly ever function correctly, if they do close all you have to do is tailgate the person in front of you and the gate will open again. Jennifer in the office has always been wonderful to us, but she has been the only one.
Do your research before moving in here. If you dont mind somewhere that is obviously old and not very well kept up, well this is the place for you. But if you dont want to have to do a complete overhaul of the place when you move in (cleaning other peoples pubes off the toilets, or trying to pry the painted shut cabinets open, or shampoo your own carpets just weeks after moving in) go somewhere else. Thanks.

I could have not agreeded more with your comment.I lived out there from Oct. 07-08. I moved so quick when my lease was up. It's horrible and the need to renovate badly.
