Dissatisfied Here

When I moved here in 98, this was a wonderful place to live. When someone said that they lived at Riverbend, others would comment on how nice it must be to live here. To be honest, for several years that remained so. When we first applied to live here, we had to pass a credit check and provide references. Our family, friends and coworkers told us that they did indeed call our references. It is painfully obvious that this is no longer the method used to decide if someone is a suitable resident to this community.

Within the last few years we have resorted to using another a laundry mat away from this property. The one here RARELY had hot water, or half the machines were down, or one person was using 80% of all the available machines and was not even present to remove the clothes that had finished or the place was so dirty that it was hard to imagine getting your clothes clean in there.

Within the past few years, not including my car being stolen, we have gone from great neighbors to the worst of the worst. Some were loud and vulgar. We had neighbors that played loud music at 3 in the morning. We had a neighbor that left the apartment full of unsupervised children all night long. We have had neighbors that had parties that turned into huge fights of 15 or 20 people in the parking lot. We called the police (including the one that the complex informed us was on duty) and watched right out our window for no less than 45 minutes and no one had come. I came home one night to see police tape at the building near mine. I asked the police what had happened and was told that there was a dead body in an empty apartment. When we called the office the next day, they would impart no further information. I don't know about you but I want to know if someone is murdering people where I live. We have awakened in the middle of the night to see 10 police officers yelling through the door of an apartment telling them to come out. Later they were all handcuffed and arrested. That is AFTER the dog was sent in first. We have had neighbors that were drug dealers. Just this past Friday, we saw the police chasing and handcuffing several youths on this property and putting them into the Police Car. We had to contact the office numerous times before anything was done. We resorted to going in on Saturdays when they are talking to potential residents, insisting that they enforce their own rules that are in the lease that everyone here supposedly signed.

On the internet, this property is advertised as a gated community. This gate has not worked for 7 days since it was erected a couple of years ago. Also, our energy bill was so high, that we called the electric company to come and do an assesment.

At this point, I would not recommend it to anyone. I do, however, credit Riverbend as the source of my inspiration to do what was necessary to purchase a home.

I must say that I am happy with the maintenance crew. They are always pleasant and have done a good job whenever called.

Each person must make his or her own decision. As for me and mine.... we are gettin the heck outta dodge!
