We lived there 2 1/2 years, not because it was great, but for the price we got more room, which we needed, and because we were in Jax temporarily, and it would have been too expensive and difficult to more. Also, it was close to my work. The staff was friendly, but it was much too poorly soundproofed. We could tell you way too much about our upstairs neighbors, including their amorous habits, and when they were mad. We lived on the end, and the uncouth seemed to never have a key, and found the best way to gain entry was either to bang on the hall doors over and over, or to pull on them until they broke. At night there was often the sound of drunken parties, and even a few times actual gunshots. One time a group of men ran by our windows yelling and shot back at another group with a large caliber gun. We were never bothered personally, but there were many times that we were peering out the window wondering what was causing the yelling and fussing. We had a pretty good relationship, we thought, but when we moved out it was before the end of our lease, due to health problems and our situation. We gave notice and were told that it wasn't a problem. We had a last inspection, and checked out and told everything was great, and then next thing we knew there was a registered letter charging us 775.00 for breaking the lease. We called and spoke to a member of the staff and were told that she would speak to the manager and call back. We never got a call, and then assumed that it was settled. Next thing, a letter from a bill collector. We paid it, but feel that their business practices are pretty shoddy.
After I wrote my review I sent a link to the email of River City Landing. It is anonymous here, but it wasn't anonymous in my email to them. Every word is true, and I even forgot to comment on the swarms of termites, and the mold. With my health problems it was a very unhealthy place for me.
