Where to begin...
I moved there when I was looking for an inexpensive place close to my new job. The manager at the time was very friendly, and placed me in a unit across from the office. My unit had brand new carpet and ceiling fans, and I was told it was one of the first of the refurbishment project. A few weeks after moving in, I learned the project was forced by the city to avoid condemning 2 of the other buildings on my side.
Bad went to worse. The laundry facilities were shut down when that building was also condemned. For over a year. In the year and change I was there, the pool was open a total of maybe 3 weeks. The final straw was when the ?new management? came into play and turned out to be the rudest, most unprofessional character I?d ever dealt with in all my years renting. Turns out he?s also the owner.
Wiring is ancient. If you want DSL, you will have to pay BellSouth to rewire all the Cat3 50 year old phone wire in the place. I paid to have the jacks replaced before I learned that fun fact. If you must slum it, Comcast is the only way to go at SMV.
Maintenance- also a joke. During one particularly bad rainstorm, my bedroom became submerged in an inch of water. After 3 days, maintenance showed up with a wetvac, a fan, and a de-humidifier. Management refused to replace the carpet, and I hate to see what kind of mold the current resident is dealing with. Oh, and the maintenance guy?s kids- don?t bother trying to discourage them from throwing rocks in your AC unit unless you want him to come to your door in his beer-breath and wife-beater t-shirt and threaten you.
