Disappointing

Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
My husband moved here first because it was close to work, shops and colleges. At first we thought it was great. The layout is two story with bed and bath upstairs, but no door to the bedroom. It's good if you're single or if you are on the same schedule as your partner. The bedroom is huge, ample walk-in closet, small bath. neighbors keep to themselves but are friendly and mostly quiet for being an apartment. Highway noise is louder than our neighbors usually, which was unexpected.
Since being here we have had many problems. With the water heater, electrical, bathroom, disposal, spiders, couple roaches (bugs aren't that bad, it is Fl). Overall, the apartment is dissatisfying. Maintenance guys are friendly, helpful and do respond in a timely manner. Management seems very unhappy themselves and not overall friendly. Don't mind the ducks, but cats and raccoons are a big problem. Never heard of a rabid duck.
I was not aware of all of the safety issues until recently but have had people go through my vehicle at least twice. Luckily nothing is kept in there and is somewhat expected due to the make and model.
Pros:
Close to shopping
Close to FCCJ and UNF
Cheap
Pool is nice (but not usually open at 9AM)
Maintenance is good
Cons:
Grounds are dirty (ponds are black, garbage almost everywhere)
Cats and raccoons
Apartment and appliances are old
Rent increase after a year is ridiculous (more than $50 )
Safety and security ( I really do like to open the windows but am now scared to)
Electric can be high
Hot tub is lacking
We have found (for about $100-$200 more) a 1,100 sq ft place with 2 beds, 2 baths, garden tub, gated, clean grounds, nice pool, updated appliances and fixtures, within a few miles. Am so excited.
