It's really sad that Spicewood has been degraded to what it is. When I moved to Jacksonville in 1999 it was one of the nicer, well kept luxury apartments in the city. I did see a decline in the quality of residents moving in as the years passed. Usually teens and young adults living in a 2 bedroom with 4 or 5 roommates. A recipe for disaster. I finally moved in 2002 when the management declined in quality to match the residents. I must agree that parking is the worst, crime has gone up at least 80 percent, yes there are drug deals, violent crimes and anything else you can imagine. Quiet is a thing of the past. People are coming and going all times of the night and you never feel completely safe. And to top everything off, Spicewood Springs is at the center of a class action lawsuit for unfair charges to their residents upon moving. Do not move there!!

Agreed. I lived there for one year back around 2003-2004 and terminated my lease early. When I turned in the keys I asked them if I owed them anything- i had already paid them my last month's rent. They said I owed them nothing. 6 months later, without directly receiving a letter from them, i get a letter from a credit agency stating I owed them a certain amount of money. Not wanting to ruin my credit anymore than it is, i paid the money, not even fully knowing what it was for.

When I was there, it wasn't horrible. My building was quiet, no complaints about my neighbors, but the parking was bad, my car was broken into & things were stolen, the washer and dryers never worked & took my money, the gates were constantly open...

From the outside it looks like a beautiful place, but living there was not that great.
