Ever since I have moved into the flats I have had problems with my neighbors being incredibly noisy, trash all over the parking lot, no parking, and staff that is incompetent and not helpful at all. I have not been happy for a while, but I did not feel unsafe until this week. On wednesday night people came pounding on our door around 3 am. They left but came back around 3:30 and continuously pounded on our door for over 15 min. We called the on-call person who told us security would come over, therefor we forwent calling JSO believing that the problem would be taken care of. Since security is supposedly on the property we felt they would be there relatively quickly and would call JSO if need be. While we were waiting The guy came back with a friend and they began kicking our door. We called on-call back after waiting for security for over 20 minutes and were informed that security went home 5 minutes ago and that there was absolutely nothing that they could do. She suggested we go to the office in the morning so they could document the incident. By this time the people at our door were gone. After talking to the assistant manager in the morning me and my roommates were even more frustrated. She was not helpful at all and told us that even if security had came that they would not have been able to do anything. I want to know what the point of security is if they can't stop people from trying to break into apartments. I no longer feel safe to sleep in my apartment, an do not recommend these apartments to anyone. The Flats are not any better than Melrose/The District. vWhRVi5nYYIuEh4W7K3l

Wow!! This is certainly something I will be keeping an eye on. I do know that they have hired a new security guard, didn't notice the one that I had seen when everyone first moved into the apartments on August 24th but was told that he was still around. I myself know that there had been a disturbance that weekend with some partying going on and the security guard was not able to get a handle on it, actually there was a total lack of respect for what the security guard was trying to do so JSO was called in arriving promptly on the scene. I also noticed that the guard railings are down at all times and only allowing one car at a time to go through. Much better from the beginning when school started, the guard arms would go up and 2 or 3 cars would haul ass through. Seemed to be a bit more noticable drinking going on this weekend which kind of surprised me considering it was parent weekend. There was more litter of beer cans and then there was those drunk girls at the guard gates acting like they were the "guard police" harrasing the drivers coming in. There does appear to be more public display of alchol consumtion. Next time the drunks come banging on your door and you have called security and they have not arrived in a timely manner, 10 minutes, call JSO! I think your a little harsh in comparing The Flats to The District - I don't believe anyone has been shot and killed there, hasn't there been 2 shooting and an overdose at The District?

Yea I agree, I wouldn??t go as far as comparing us to the District by any means. Also we don??t have a security guard here, he is the "courtesy officer" Basically his job is to just be the middle man. If there is a noise disturbance or violation of any kind he is the one who calls the police. But he can??t do anything else because he is just the courtesy officer. Just to clear up a few things

I think the reason the OP is comparing to the district is because we have not had any shootings YET, any overdoses YET... but I can assure you it won't be long until that happens if things continue the way they are.
