Not Worth The Headache

Oh, where to begin..... Let's see, move in day...they decided to clean the carpets the day I was scheduled to move in. The plugs in the bedroom where up-side-down so you could not plug anything into them. The light in the kitchen was covered in dirt and grease. The exhaust vent in the bathroom was clogged with dirt. The a/c vent in the bathroom was black (mold). The apartment looked like it had about 10 mins. worth of cleaning. The shower head in the bathroom sprayed water all over the counter and mirror.
A/C nighmare. The a/c never worked right from day one. It took them 6 tries to get it right. Day one...it never got below 85 degrees and the a/c was leaking all over the place. They cleaned out the unit and that fixed the leaking problem but the cooling issue took a month to fix. They changed out the thermostat (said it was wired up wrong). Still nothing. Came back again and again and swore to me everything was normal and working fine. The unit ran NON STOP at least 20 hours per day. (No lie. I have the electric bill to prove it) This is normal' I think not. On the fifth try, the maintenance guy told me that 88 degrees was perfectly normal.....look, if I turn it up to 90 it shuts off. Who sets their a/c to 90' Please. So back to the office. This time they sent a different guy out. It took him all of 15 minutes to figure out what was wrong and fix the problem. So after a month of sitting in an 85 degree apartment, they finally sent someone out who had a clue. Tip, any a/c issues, have them send out the older white guy...he knows what he is doing. The ------- american gentleman and the younger white guy have NO CLUE. (The black guy was the one who informed me that 88 degrees was perfectly normal.)
Bugs, Bugs everywhere. I realize this is Florida and we have bugs here (lived in FL all my life) but I have never seen so many bugs in all of my life. Everyday, yes, everyday when I pull back the shower curtain, there is a roach hanging out in the tub or on the wall. Roaches crawling around on the carpet in the living room, roaches in the kitchen. If you look outside at night along the landings/stairways there are roaches on the sides of the buildings and on the landings. Doesn't take a genius to figure out where they are coming from. Pest control anyone' Speaking of pest control, you have to go into the office and tell them you want your apt. sprayed. They do not spray on a monthly basis on their own. Keep your can of spray handy...you're going to need it.
If you manage to get a working apt. and/or everything fixed and don't mind sharing your place with bugs, the actual apartments are nice. They have a good layout and are quiet. I have not had any issues with noise coming from my neighbors apt. People tend to keep to themselves here so safety concerns are not a big issue here. The outside lighting could use some updating. Lots of burnt out bulbs and the front entrance has no lighting what-so-ever. (Easy to drive right past the entrance at night if you are not paying close attention)
The office staff is nice and helpful. They were always good about sending maintenance out in a reasonable amount of time. (just hope its not an a/c issue!)
This place is a little expensive. Sure you get free water, cable and HBO but if you look at other apartments that are $100 cheaper, it all about equals out in the end. Read the other reviews. Some of them are a little out there but they all have some truth to them. SROlYjGrgm2VnM-SactV
