This was a great place to live when Equity Builders owned and managed the property. Last November Aimco bought Deerbrook, now Casa del Mar. That's when everything fell apart. Read and decide for yourself.

Positive: if you want a really large apartment in a great location, without anyone above or below you, these are perfect.

Negative: no maintenance. none. you can (and I have) call maintenance every hour of every day and leave message after message without getting a return phone call or any action. I was without air-conditioning for a month this past summer and I am currently without heat.

I was duped into signing a 13 month lease because the leasing agent told me that they would install tile flooring. The maintenance mgr told me he couldn't find any contractors in Jax who would do the job. I called 14 tile stores and all of them wanted the job including Home Depot and Lowe's. The request for tile flooring was a health issue, not aethetics, because I have asthma.

With Equity Builders we could use the pool (which was clean) 24/7. Under Aimco the pool hours are 8-8 which is great for retirees, children and the unemployed. For those of us who work daily, we can't swim laps before work or relax in the pool after work. There are 8 pools in the Aimco dynasty, all dirty, so you don't want to swim in them anyway.
