Wow.

The first week we moved into our "renovated" three bedroom, two bath townhome we had one shower that had no cold water and another shower that had no hot water. Then the toilet upstairs leaked and caused a cave-in on our first floor ceiling, the kitchen sink plugged up, and the master bath sink just stopped working.

Then we got an accidental eviction notice because of a staff screw up. We also had cockroaches that we could saddle up and ride through the parking lot if we wanted to, plus a crackling electrical box. We were told by maintenance to never use the garbage disposal for anything other than water. Actually, he used the word "soup".

I guess our problems weren't as bad as our neighbors, who also lived in "renovated" apartments. One side had an apartment that flooded during every rainstorm. The other side had two electrical box fires and a collapsed kitchen sewer line that forced plumbers to jackhammer up the floor. As we were moving out, we noticed that there was sewage bubbling up right outside the door of our apartment, too, so there will be jackhammers in our old apartment someday.

The thing that really makes me angry about this place is the complete disregard for safety on the grounds. They installed a nice, new playset last spring but left the old playset standing right next to it...the old one is severely broken with RUSTY NAILS sticking out of it for the kids to play with before their next round of tetanus shots. To my knowledge, it's still there and kids are still playing on it. There's an old enclosed raquetball court that is unused and flooded, but anyone could fall into it. If anyone would happen to fall through the broken, rusty screens and survive the 20-foot fall to the bottom (I'm thinking kids), they wouldn't be able to get out. The swimming pool filter room has a locked iron gate that any kid could squeeze through. I was tempted to wander through this room myself. There is a group of old, unused maintenance or landscaping shacks towards the back of the place that has lots of hazards in them but they still stand.

These are all liabilities just waiting to happen and I can't believe any thinking person wouldn't just get rid of these dangerous areas before something bad happens to someone. Maybe they're just playing the odds or something.

On a positive note, I never did have a problem with the maintenance staff other than meeting quite a few inept ones. There is plenty of parking...though watch out for the speedbumps from hell. And it's pretty quiet for the most part.

If anyone wants to live here, please scratch the surface of this candy-coated complex. It may look somewhat nice, but you need to look somewhere else. I firmly believe that any "YES" recommendations on this site for this complex are by the staff members themselves.

Run, don't walk, away from the Villages of Baymeadows...but be careful of the speedbumps as you leave!
