Started out good, but...

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2006
At the time of move in, the property was under Equity Management. In the year that my family was there, we had three seperate management companies... and were only made aware of the new management once. (With a notice posted on the door stating the change exactly one day before the new company took over.) From September 2005 until we moved out in October 2006 we never had gate to phone access. Essentially, for the very little time that the gates actually would open and close with the cards, I was unable to have any guests unless they wanted to park until I could walk from the 1400 building to the gates with a key to let them in. At one point, after a request was put in to fix the drain stopper in the firt bathroom, the maintenance person managed to break the water spicket which required a plumber to come and fix. I made my complaint to the office twice a week for three weeks before they finally managed to fix the issue. It was horrible. I had to take in pictures, wasting my printer ink to express how much of a hazard the hole (roughly the size of a large take out pizza box) and metal pipe were to myself and my children (both under 3 at the time). Ironically, the management tried to apologize and proceeded to take an additional two days to actually finish fixing the issue. Upon our leaving the property, we left a forwarding address which has been lost at least three times since, and a credit to our account of almost half a month's rent. Instead of sending our money back to us, we received a certified notice that we owe for carpet and room cleaning. Not unusual when you have children, but the balance owed to my family still has not been sent over two months later and my husband and I have been in contact (again, leaving our forwarding address) with the property management office, to which I am told I must put in a complaint in to the corporate office before they will be able to return our overpayment. Apparently, renters rights have been misplaced by the new management company... misplaced in the same spot that our file continually has been lost, it appears.
