I have lived here for one and a half years, here is what I have observed from my time spent here at the Wimberly.
PROS:
Great Area - This is definitly one of the best areas to live in Jacksonville, plenty of things to do near by and close to the JTB which gives you instant access to I-95 and the Beaches. Very Good Location.
Noise - There are really good people that live here and I have never had any problems with noise. No one driving into the place at 4am with their "system" blaring. Just a nice community to call home.
Floor Plans - There are many floor plans to choose from and they are some of the biggest and well thought out plans in the area.
Grounds/Maintenance - They are always well kept and any request for maintenance was resolved in less then 2 days to my full satisfaction.
Parking - This really depends on which unit you pick... my building is near the back and I always have extra parking but I know some of the other buildings are tight on parking.
CONS:
Gate - Never works.... maybe has worked a total of 3 months that I have lived here. They really need to get a new gate. However, the area is very nice and security doesn't seem to be an issue here.
Gym - The gym is open 24 hours a day, and it is hands down the best gym in the area, however, some residents have stolen some of the free weights and the management company has not replaced them and it doesnt sound like they will be doing this anytime soon, I had to get a gym membership due to this.
Management - There has recently a new management company that is working here now. They are much less proactive as the previous company, the same people are working there, so the people are nice, but the new company has cut back on things that were nice about this place. Like pressure washing the apartment complex exteriors on a routine basis, and sending out monthly e-mails and newsletters with events and workout schedules at the gym.
Overall - I enjoyed my stay here at the Wimberly, some of the amenities (like the movie theater) are not available in any of the area apartment complexes. The new management company seems to be a bit of a problem, but if you are looking for a safe, comfortable, relaxing place to live. Near malls, and restaurants, and access to highways. The Wimberly at deerwood, might be a good match for you.
