The ghetto West Isle is going upscale condo conversion. Yes, you read right. Currrent resicents will not be renewed after their lease is up and there will be no new renters. The entire complex was sold recently and the new owners, Key West Polo Club, stated:

"Absolutely, things will change," Birdman said. "As units vacate, we'll end the affordability program. Everything depends on the market conditions. There also could be a different rental structure."

I would hate to be anyone living here now as they won't have a place to live soon and they will not be able to afford these units at market rates. Don't move here, go somewhere else as you will have no long term security.

There are rumors that Ocean Walk will suffer the same fate; soon there will be NO AFFORDABLE RENTAL APARTMENT COMPLEXES in Key West. Everything in Key West is going upscale - if you can't afford to live in a millionaires paradise, don't move here.
