My husband and I had lived there for six months and when we where laid off of our jobs both of us working for the same company, we gave them 3 months notice in advance that we are moving. We still kept paying our monthly rent until the day that we had moved out. Now it is two months later and we received a bill from, a credit bureau on their behave to pay them 10,490.32. Boy what a scam! How do we owe them 10,490.32 from moving two months ago in which we pay them in full and have not received our deposit back. They charge us for garbage pickup a fee of 12.00 a month in which nobody really have a clue where that money is going. You are not suppose to pay for garbage pickup. The Sanitation Dept workers are paid by the state in which is paid by tax payers dollars. So that means they are making free profit with our money. Again why are they charging a fee for garbarge pickup' What about when you pay your rent in advance they still charge you a late fee! They are a Scam! You really don't know where you money is going to with Heron Lake Apartments and they make up a excuse for everything. BEWARE OF CON ARTISTS!!!

I can understand this person is very upset and has had some hard knocks in general. I don't live at Heron Lake Apartments, but I have been in the Apartment rental business for over 12 years. What people do not understand is the Lease Agreements they sign are Legal Agreements. The same as Buying a car agreement or any other agreement you may sign. And Apartment rental communities are not Mom & Pop rentals. They have to treat everyone the same. Fair Housing Law, good or bad, if they like it or not, it is what is required by law. Even though there have been and will always be times the people in charge who may want to bend to help someone having a hard time, you have to remember it is a business. A business with Fair Housing Law, which simply stated says "What you do for one you must do for all". In the future read that contract, understand it before you sign and move in to an Apartment community. These rules are to help see that everyone is treated the same and fairly. Over the years I have worked as hard as I can to help when I can and understand the hardships for what they are. Always knowing it a business and I can only work within the realm of the contract which has been signed by both. I do hope thing s have or will be getting better for you.
