Disgusting Place to Stay

Our stay at Kissimmee Pines, which is just off the 192 on the corner of Dyer Street and W Oak Street, was during at end of Feb 04 and beginning of March 04.

We had room only board and at first were provided with a reasonable room. Room 26 actually. When I asked about smoking the owner Mike provided us with another room (303)with a balcony and also an ashtray that we were requested to share with our neighbours. We accepted this as a total no smoking policy. But, could not understand why we had to move to other another room.

The towels were not changed at all during the 5 days we were at this accomodation. The room wasn't cleaned and we ended up cleaning ourselves. The owner turned the heating and air con. off completely - this was inside a locked box. When we asked to have the heat/aircon on it was unlocked and we went out for the day on our return it had been locked up again and completely turned off.

The district where the Kissimmee Pines is, is not very safe to walk about. The trip to the shops across the road is very unsafe and you get stalked by the locals watching and following you as you pay for your shopping and walk from the store to the accomodation. During our stay we were awoken at 4am in the morning by police raiding a house on the estate directly adjacent to the Kissimmee Pines.

There is much more that I could write about this accomodation, but, suffice to stay that the staff at rude and unhelpful, the rooms are filthy and smell, the reception shuts at about 6pm and you can't get in contact with anyone in the event of an emergency. The pool was filthy and had insects floating in it. The tank for the water for the apartments and rooms had fish (carp and goldfish) swimming in it. The TV is about 10 inch by 10 inch and on a small stand attached to the wall. The cupboard (6 drawer was completely falling apart) as was the bed and headboard. The walls were covered in stains. Eventually if you pester long enough you are provided with a remote for the tv, toilet rolls and a kettle. The kettle - you have to either stand it on the floor to boil it, or on the lid of the small bin. This was extremely dangerous.

The apartments looked as though they were mainly occupied by a couple of small businesses - PCs could be seen through one of the windows and through another there was a sewing machine and materials.

The rooms do not look anything like the standard of the apartments.

Our advice don't even think about staying here - it's awful.

We had enough of the damp and smell and verbal abuse from the owners and moved on our 5th day to a far better quality hotel, at a price of course and sadly I guess the owners still got paid from our tour operators.
