Worst Experience of My LIFE

Here is a list of just a FEW of the problems I encountered during my miserable year of being trapped at LT:

1. When I moved in, the unit above me was abandoned full of garbage. Lake Tivoli did not even realize the problem until I had maggots coming down through the walls. Pest control wouldn't help, so I had to buy all of the supplies myself to kill the flies (I killed 80 flies in one hour. No exaggeration). Then the roaches came, I again bought all my own supplies.

2. I requested pest control on 3 separate occasions, at least a few days in advance of Monday. 2 of those times, no one showed up. This was both with the old company AND the new company. I had to call and complain multiple times to get anything done.

3. After they finally cleaned out the apartment above me, the maintenance crew THREW THE WASHER AND DRYER OFF THE 2ND STORY BALCONY. They were within 3 feet of hitting my car - no warning whatsoever!! And think of the families that could have used those appliances...

4. A YEAR AFTER the maggots/roaches outbreak, Lake Tivoli realized they needed to spray the ENTIRE building for pests. No, really' They put a note on our door with 3 days notice telling everyone to clean out under their sinks, clean up floors, remove pets, etc. I made special arrangements to be off work. Then, around 3:30 PM when no one had showed up yet, I called LT only to find out that they had rescheduled and didn't even have the COURTESY to inform any of the residents. Their management is a JOKE.

5. The roof is poorly designed. When it rained, the water would pour straight down, forming a massive puddle in front of my window. During the rainy season I had a constant standing puddle of water and no grass. Standing water = BUGS.

6. The security gates never, ever worked. I felt extremely unsafe. I carried pepper spray to check my mail.

7. The walls were ok, but the ceiling was paper thin. I could hear my upstairs neighbor's every move, I could even hear the echo of him peeing in his bathroom. Words cannot express how disgusting that is.

8. People would play basketball outside on the court at midnight even when the lighting was off. They played basketball at all hours, even early in the morning, screaming and cursing the whole time. One time I had to call the cops at 2 AM.

9. There is only one trash compactor for the entire community, and it is small. (SEE ATTACHED PHOTO OF THE TRASH HEAP!) Sometimes the compactor is removed completely and no dumpster is available. One time I saw a big dog going through garbage on the ground. I feel so, so, so sorry for the people who live next to that dump.

10. I was too embarrassed to bring visitors there. When friends visited from out of town, I always met them somewhere else.

I have more horror stories, but you get the idea. Please, please take this as a warning: don't live here! This was the worst apartment living experience of my life, and I'm so happy to finally be free and living in a clean/safe community. I've even lived in college dorms and not had this many problems.

I am sure management will reply to this like they reply to the others. Don't believe their lies and false promises. They are PAID to lie to you!

I, too, witnessed all and more of the above reviewers complaints. This is absolutely the worst managed apartment community I have ever encountered. They are friendly BEFORE you move it and blow you off afterwards. Many, many much nicer places to live for the same $$. Do not even stop to look ... anything they promise you is not worth it in the end. You will be sorry.

I also have seen & heard exactly what the original post stated. Not only that -- but one of the MANY times that the trash compactor was overflowing and the toss door was blocked by piles of garbage, I had a bag of very stinky garbage that I had no choice but to add it to the already existing heap of garbage. The next day, I was fined $50 for not disposing of my garbage the right way, (they had to have torn apart my garbage (gross) and pulled each thing out to get a piece of paper with my name on it). Come on!! I honestly think that the management keeps the TOO small compactor just so that they can make huge chunk of cash each week, (as the dumpster area is like the attached photo EVERY week)!! I am 150% positive that there is nothing with my unit # or my name on it in my garbage any longer. Also, I have had KUA come into my unit to help me determine why my utility bill is so high, and they tested and documented that the AC unit is not functioning properly & the refrigerator is running constantly. I took the documentation to the office and they stated that KUA doesn't know what they are talking about in regards to the AC, they did send the maintenance (NO AC EXPERIENCE) person over to spray cleaner on the AC coils, (succedding in causing my unit to smell strange for days), and I was told that the AC unit was working perfectly and that my utility bill was not really that high, that most of the LT units ran that high. Call me crazy, but if a 3 bdrm/2 bath 1400 sq ft house with 6 adults & 2 children living in it has an average of $145 monthly utility bill -- then this 2 bdrm / 2 bath 987 sq ft upstairs unit with only 2 adults living in it should probably not have an average utility bill of $257 monthly!!! The management NEVER has addressed the refrigerator that still runs constantly. I found this site while researching how to get out of my lease, 3 months early.... and I am writting a certified letter with "ALL" of my complaints: broken gates, constant battle with roaches, standing water & mosquitos, AC, Heat and appliances not working properly, the rotten stench from the dumpster area, the stench of dead rodents in my stairway, (that also has been ignored), my downstairs neighbors garbage piled on their patio, the mold in the bathtubs and AC unit, and MANY more problems... I have documented everything that is possible to document and if the management does try to sue me, then I will not only counter sue, but I will file a complaint with the BBB and the County (the violations of cars parked in the roadways and fire lanes all the time), and the health department (the mold in the AC Units)..... LAKE TIVOLI APARTMENTS ARE WORSE THEN THE SLUM APARTMENT I LIVED IN WHEN I FIRST MOVED TO FLORIDA.....
