Okay here is the deal... everyone is so nice when you move in, and even when there are huge problems. You think it is a great rate. You probably will even like it for some time. However, before you know it your in over your head. Rats became infested through the roof, and I mean INFESTED, in my townhome. My roommate was chased out of the house by one. The only solution Oak Ridge had was to set rat traps with peanut butter. Which they did not bother to tell us where they were. I had a visitor over and they opened the cabinet under the sink to find a ***nearly*** dead rat trapped in it. The maintenance man refused to handle the issue. I could not take the noise of a rat dying so I left the apartment for that night. This was problem one. Next came the leaky air conditioner and mold. The stove was broken. It was not hell on earth, but I was miserable a lot of the time. My real problems started when I left. They sent me to collections for so many outlandish things it was not even funny. I made friends with the couple next door and they had animals, broke their lease, and left the apartment in horrible shape. However, Oak Ridge did not go after them. I guess it was based on their low income. My apartment was in better condition then when I came. I updated fixtures, with approval from Oak Ridge. And I am a clean freak. It was pristine when I left. However, they claimed so many things to get money out of me for leaving early, which the owners agreed to allow me. GET EVERYTHING FROM THEM IN WRITING ***AND*** SIGNED WITH WITNESSES!!! I have documentation in writing, but is no good as it is not signed by the owners. Several office women there also told me they keep the deposit no matter what, so beware. I know the kept mine, but the greedy owners wanted more so they sent me to collections. I wish I had known some people there before I moved in to tell me about this. So, I am doing it here. I am a little disgruntled, but all my information is genuine. You may feel free to e-mail me at kmgirl1985@yahoo.com with any questions about my experience. I do know 2 acquaintances that did not have problems with the apartment, but have had problems with the underhandedness of the owners. Again feel free to contact me. I know I lived there and when it was time for my lease to be renewed I said no put it in writing and everything when I moved to Chicago everything was fine until they had 2 teenaged girls move in and they stayed for 3 months and got kicked out for not paying rent thats when they decided to come after me and said that i did not break my lease and charged me for 6 months of rent and new carpet which i filled out the paperwork when i moved in about all the stains on the carpet also charged me for the broken slap out back which was broken when i moved in I did not have problems with rats but I did have massive carpenter ants i bomb my townhome myself and from the window to the middle of the floor was covered with those ants couldnt even tell what color the carpet was nasty
