I am a former tenant of Camden Club apartments, a relationship that lasted three and a half years. It was during the last two years that things really went downhill. It started with the Orlando condo craze which sent just about every apartment complex in Sabal Point into conversion mode. It was during this period that Camden Club decided to raise their rates drastically and their attitudes to their tenants became indifferent. They pretty much do what they want, when they want and force you to adapt to their new policies. This has included eliminating methods of how you may pay your bill, implementing a mandatory trash pick-up service & fee, and forcing resident to register their vehicle with a towing company based out of Tampa.
Needless to say these are minor inconveniences compared to my last year in the complex. I moved from a two bedroom unit into one bedroom unit in 2006 due to the skyrocketing prices. Shortly after moving into the new unit I began to experience the unsavory mildew smell that I could not get rid of. I informed the management whom then sent maintenance to cover up the mildew smell but not find its source or remove it. Unfortunately this effort did not purify my place of the smell. When I moved out of the apartment two weeks ago I cleaned the carpet but was unable to remove a few rust stains. Upon walking through the apartment management claimed that these were urine stains and charged me a pet fee(even though I do not own a pet now nor have I owned a pet in the previous three years) to be deducted from my deposit. They claimed the smell in the apartment, yes the very smell I had to live with the last year, was that of an animal that I kept there.
If you thinking of moving into this apartment complex let me give you some words of advice. They will be the kindest, most gentlest staff when you come to look for the first time, but once you sign the lease you are pretty much ---- to them. Believe me, the other posted negative reviews describe this place quite well.

Thanks 4 the review, my mom and me were going 2 rent a big townhouse but when we went in to see it, the smell of mold literally got me sick. I had to hold my nose/mouth althroughout the tour. She said it was from no AC on for a week or two, but I know mold, cause I am allergic to it.

All of the above is true. I have been a resident for 1.5 years now. They raised my rent outrageously after 1 year. All new neighbors moving in are trailer trash.
