I moved in to the Alexan Club @ Maitland Center in July of 2004. I fell in love with it immediately. I loved my unit, the office staff was helpful and cooperative, the landscaping was beautiful, and so was the lake.
Later that year, we received notice that the complex was being bought out by Bainbridge. Ever since then, everything went downhill. They got rid of the office staff, they started to paint the place a nasty and tacky yellow/orange color (the place used to be a very nice white with blue trimmings), and last but not least, they said that they were converting the townnhouse side of the complex into condominiums for sale. They told us over on the apartment side of the complex "not to worry, nothing would affect us." Yeah, right.
A couple of months before my lease was due to expire I called the office to see if I could renew my lease. They said they were not renewing leases but would put us on a month-by-month lease for the same price as our current rent. I was told that the apartment side of the complex was going to be sold "eventually". I was given NO more information. I tried to ask if we would get a notice and if so how many days would our notice be. They told me that they had no idea. "Management keeps us in the dark about these things." Ohhh kay. Needless to say, I didn't believe a word and started to look for another place to live.
They are trying to sell these condos. starting in the mid $200's and up. From what a sales agent told me, the townhouse side was pretty much sold except for a couple of units. So that means the apartment side is next. And soon.
I walked into the office to turn in my 30 day move-out notice and while I was waiting another resident walked in to ask the leasing agent when they were going to go fully residential on the apartment side. She said "I have no idea. Management keeps us in the dark." The poor guy tried to get more information but she wouldn't say anything. He eventually left and she looked over at a friend of hers that was sitting near her desk and said "It could be as short as 15 days notice." And then she smirked at her friend. I thought this was just plain b****y and nasty of her. I left that office happy that I had found another place to move to.
I do NOT recommend anyone buy a condo here. Overpriced. Nasty office staff. The only good thing about this place is that the maintenance didn't change and they are good at coming out and fixing things in a timely fashion.
It was great when TCRS owned it and it was The Alexan but as soon as Bainbridge took over it went to s**t.
Thanks for reading the long review. Had a lot to say.
