for the space, the maintenence and the price, this is one of the best apartments in melbourne.
the management is good. they just recently changed office staff, and while i liked the previous staff better, the new staff is not bad. we have never had any problems, and maintenence has always been quick. even on weekends. the grounds and the apartments are kept well, and the pool is always clean and very rarely crowded. some of the apartments have ceiling fans. with every year we have renewed our lease we had the option of having our carpets cleaned or getting a ceiling fan in one of the rooms. our master bedroom already had a fan when we moved in. so if yours doesnt, i guess no previous tenant chose that. the porch and the apartment are the largest by far for the price anywhere in the area. they are well built and during all of the storms in 2004 the only thing we had to deal with was power outages, there was no damage at all to our building. there are washer/dryers for no extra cost in all units which is a huge plus!
i know quite a few of our neighbors and most of them are very nice people who have lived here several years. there are no "ghetto" people that i know of. it is usually very quiet. you can hear the football games on friday night but the noise usually ends before its too late. the trash recepticle is near my building and unfortunately comes around the time my child takes his naps, but you cant work around everyones schedule. i live upstairs and my downstairs neighbor says she never hears us, even tho i do have a young child who can be very rambunctuos. i have never heard the dogs from the vets office.
it is close to major businesses, schools, shopping, and pretty much anything anyone would need. my only gripe is the lack of extra parking. when coming home late at night, there are times when i have had to park very far away, but we do have one assigned spot so at least both of the cars are not too far from us. if you only have one car, then you wouldnt have any problems. but in the occasion i have had to walk to my building late at night, in no way do i feel "unsafe".
overall, the only thing that would make me move out is the need for another bedroom since 2/2 is the largest they offer. but i will put that off for as long as i can because i do like it here so much.
