THINK TWICE!!!!

Hickory Pointe apartments COULD be a very nice place for your "elderly" parents to reside in....IF, it had a WORTHWHILE management company managing it! In the SEVEN years that I have lived here I have seen NINE "managers" come and go! Out of the nine, only two (who stayed longer than 90 days!) were any good. One was a "sex" maniac who was arrested on site for solicitation of prostitution, one was a drug addict who was stealing medication from tenants, one was arrested on site for grand larceny, another ran for the hills after a resident waved 9mm gun in their face and a "slew" of others simply left within 60 days of working there! This all with "changes" of ownership and management compainies. The "neighborhood" IS NOT that bad (use to be in the early 80's, but not so much anymore), frankly, I feel the management company is more of a "problem" to the security of the tenants then any outside source. The apartments are very well appointed, large, nice flooring, pretty sound construction and the grounds are well spread out and kept pretty clean. Being that it is "income restricted" one can't live here unless they are "low-income" (no insult, so am I!) so, most of us don'thave much of a choice and are stuck having to accept really bad management. The maintenance workers also have come and gone, some have been theives but mostly just lazy. The "gym" is a joke, the pool is usually dirty and has stains in it that have been there for years, the sprinklers smell horrible and stink your house up, the garbage overflows from the compactor every weekend (which you can well imagine the "smell" in July & August). There use to be a lot of activities and events for us "ol folks" (when I first moved in) but in the last two years or so, unless the tenants get together on our own, the owners don't pay to do anything anymore (though they advertise it). We use to have a "complimentary" van that would bring us to the store or to appointments at first it was four times a week, than about a year and a half ago it went to two times a week and as of this past June down to once a week! With 200 or so tenants here, and most of us either can't drive or can't afford a car, it's near impossible do the things we use to do (I can't afford to take a "cab" either. I guess I'm complaining because that's all I can do...but if you are looking for a place to move to because you want to be with senior citizens....THINK TWICE before comming here, if you can't afford anywhere else then be prepared to live somewhere that advertises that they are "pro" senior citizen but really they could care less!
