Basically, title of my review says it all. The noise from Brickell Ave. is tremendous from my apartment on the OPPOSITE side of the building. I can hear virtually everything my neighbor above does; flushing toilets, sliding chairs at 2AM, etc. The maintenance crew is always fixing things around the building, lending to the notion that the building is cheaply built. That is an understatement, the building is practically falling down. Plaster routinely falls off the hallway and stairway walls and collects on the floors and stairwells. The elevators are on their last leg of life, they are nearly 25 years old and break down all the time.
The staff are oblivious, and none of the maintenance crew except for one guy can -------------. The owner's name is ------ ----- and he is a slum lord. One of the residents even put the owner's name, address, home and business phone numbers under everybody's door. The guy is a sleaze ball. His employees are the same.

You can hear everything your neighbor does above you @ 1550 Brickell. Toilet flushing, chair sliding, and the classic 'bowling ball drop' (at least that's what it always sounded like). I asked management about these noises and they said that nobody lived above me!!!! Strange!!!! I had an 'above' neighbor who liked to leave ---- blaring really loud until the wee hours of the morning. The worst was the 24-hour ROAD NOISE from Brickell. Management ARE compulsive liars.

The "bowling ball drop" is caused when the savages that live above you slam the toilet seats close. That's how poorly these buildings were built. Just wait till you go through a hurricane in here. Do not, and I mean, DO NOT spend the hurricane in your apartment if you face Brickell Avenue. With Wilma, the guy on the 4th floor above me had everything sucked out of his unit by the winds. He had to hide in the guest bathroom to avoid being killed. But these buildings fall apart every time they get hit by a hurricane. Water comes in from everywhere and the lights go out for weeks while the condos across the street are fully lit.

I have lived here for several months and obviously have respectful neighbors because I don't hear a peep. Not to mention most of them that I have met have been here before and during all the renovations and say that it was not fun but how happy they are they stayed and tell me that I definitely made the right choice by moving in here. The girls in the office are very friendly and helpful for the smallest things. And I have NEVER I mean NEVER seen a piece of the building anywhere but on the building, and I walk down the stairs almost everyday!!! Anyway, I just don't think it's fair to trash the place. I couldn't be happier about moving here and I don't speak a word of Spanish and I am able to communicate perfectly with everyone from the office, to maintenance, to the guards, we are in Miami after all. Anyway, I just wanted to throw my two cents in since I think it's only fair. By the way people, I'm originally from NY and have lived in apartments for a long time and you usually hear your neighbors, if you don't like it buy a house!

"downwiththisbs" - You are obviously a pushover used to low standards or a member of the 1550 staff. Or if we're lucky enough, maybe you are R-obert Greeen Himself! If you are Mr. Slumlord-in-Chief himself, I hope you are proud of the way people feel about your dumpy buildings!
But then again, because you're a slumlord, you shouldn't care, right? Haha

I have moved to 1550 from the Plaza Bldg, and I will tell you that starting with the Managment office I have had nothing but good things happen to me here.
At the Plaza the managment was horrible, and all of the member of the stuff but the General Manager were totally incompetent.
I guess it takes to live in a BAD BLDG that is all pretend TO BE HIGH CLASS and beautiful finished, to be able to appreciate helpful Staff and quality living.
Since I been here I have only heard the occassional furniture moving from my upstairs neighboor; which is 10 TIMES BETTER THAT MY OLD NEIGHBOORS at the plaza who used to have parties almost everyday until 4am.
I am sure that things are not perfect anywhere, but I am happy so far with my experience at 1550. Let's see how the remaining of Lease term goes...
