I attend FIU North and lived in Ashleys Place. Yes it is affordable but very run down. The doors are weak and someone could easily break through(and has) them which could happen seeing that you could just hop over the 4ft gate and be in the complex. the security is awful , just a gate that you open with an opener but you can't close it so anyone can just run right in after or before you. You are only allowed 1 parking space in the garage even if more than one person is living there and even so the garage is not even safe, at least 7 cars have had their windows broken and things stolen from them in the past 4 months. If you have another car you must wait until 5 p.m to park it in one of the 10 spaces they have for the leasing office, even though they even have 4 people on their staff, and then you must move it by 8 a.m. If you park there between those times YOU WILL BE TOWED without warning-I have seen it happen. It is ridiculous.(ican't believed I ever lived in this nightmare) Not even the mail boxes are secure people have stolen other peoples mail.The staff is impossible especially the rude secretary at the front desk-she's a real ------ the mantinence staff is very nice though and the pool is always clean and so is the laundry room. I have had a set of sheets stolen from the laundry room when they were not even dried yet.It is hard to get your problems with the apartment fixed, I had a very noisy bathroom fan and all it needed was a cleaning. I would have done it myself but I was told not to by the landlord because I could damage it. He promised me that he would fix it several times and 2 years later it had not been taken care of. To take out the garbage you must walk all the way to the back of the apartment building and somehow hold open the back gate so you don't get locked up and are forced to walk around. Crackheads and drug dealers are constantly around the apartment, they are the culprits of breaking into the cars. The carpets are old and they won't change them and the stove is very close to a window that you are required to have curtains for- a real fire hazard-it happened in another apartment in the complex. The floors are old and stained in all the apartment kitchens and the garage often floods and it not at all well drained. Last year 3 cars were flooded out in the garage, luckily I had parked at a friends nearby. This has happened years before but of course they don't do ---- about it. I felt extremely unsafe in this complex, it is not at all ideal if you ahve children or are a young college student-male or female. This apartment complex overall is very crappy,waste of space- a total last resort. I was attracted to it for the price but I learned that I was better off paying the extra $50 or $75 for a better, safer place. As soon as my lease was up I was outta there. Thank God!

You are right! You mention alot of things I didn't write in here. What is funny is that 3 years later this place continues to be a piece of crap.
