My story with Aventura Harbor is a long one.I found them through Rent-Free.Com.When I arrived it had a nice presence, you can tell they spent all their money on the leasing office. The model also looked nice and the rent was resonable so I signed my 13 months away.I realized my mistake early on when my hallway smelled like a Bob Marley concert. I'm no prude but Jesus Christ these guys dont even light incense to cover up the weed smell. My 9 year old son asks"what's that smell'"try talking your way out of that."Somebody burned their aspargus on the stove" is what i came up with. Then 2 months in I buy a new car..$40,000(more than they spend all year on maint.)but anyway I get a knock on my door 6am from the security guard. He says"I think someone stole your wheels off you car" I say"are they on the car'"and he says"NO!" Then somebody stole them Einstein! The manager and the head of security(some thug looking punk)aren't even interested in what happened. They just say"we're not responsible"The police wouldn't even come out to take a report, they took it over the phone. Finally I spoke with a detective who informed me that this happens once a month there. It turns out that they rent certain apts.to a govermant program namded Transitions. This is some sort of drug and alchohol rehab program.Of course this never came up when I signed my lease. They know that if they even mentiond this most people would not want to live there.Nothing against these people in the program but I rather not be around drug dependant people, in recovery or not.Now for the final conversation I had with management, I had requested to live an additional 2 weeks after my lease was up,as my new apt.isnt going to be ready until Oct.14.I was advised in would cost me market price plus $100 fee for 2 weeks. They told me it would be $900 plus $100 fee.$1000 for two weeks, you must be out of you mind! In retrospect I was retarded for even asking,I can't take another day in that place.Oh yeah did I mention the mold growing in the closet they said I was responsible for or the time I saw a crackhead looking in a car window with a spotlight or the drunk guy that knocked on my door at 3am because he thought that was his apt(maybe from Transitions)or the 5 or so mailboxes that are ripped open by a crowbar or nasty garbage chute that backs up every weekend.Needless to say I do NOT recommend Aventura Harbor ,which is neither in Aventura and sure does not a harbor anywhere near it, to anyone. If this buiding was up north it would be low income projects.Stay away.Oh yeah your guests have to park in a special parking lot which is as far as a 5 min.walk through the "hood"
