I informed the leasing agent that I was relocating from New York. I told her the date I would arrive but was not sure of the time. She said to call her the day before if it looks like I would be getting there at night. I did not call because I was sure I would make it by 4pm. I got there at 3:50pm. They would not let me in the guard gate. I had to go the office to speak with the manager. The manager did not want to speak with me. The leasing agent said she did not remember such conversation with me. Said the best she could do was give me 1 hour to move in and thereafter the moving truck would be towed if it was still on the property. I reminded them that I was driving for 21 hours, needed some items out the truck and could not afford to have the truck towed. The leasing agent suggested that I park outside the gate at my own risk. (Allegedly, commercial vehicles are not allowed on the premises after 4pm.)I parked the truck outside the gate overnight. I asked the security guard to keep an eye on the truck---he said he would try but no guarantee. I gave him my cell number and asked him to call me if the truck needed to be moved. He then said that after midnight I was on my own because the person on the midnight shift may not call me. Great!!! Just the welcome you are looking for when you have relocated far away from home. Thank God, the truck was not towed.
After I was living there incident free for six months, someone started stealing my mail from my mailbox. I informed the office but the leasing agent did not try to get to the bottom of it. Just told me to pay $15.00 and they will change the lock in three days. I reported it to the police, cancelled my credit cards, asked my banks to hold my mail and made arrangements with the post office to hold my mail until a P.O. Box was available. I also filed a report with the Post Master General/Inspector. The postal inspector sent me a letter of investigation. I showed the letter to the leasing manager and that is when my mailbox lock was changed without a fee.
My side and overhead neighbors played they music very loud at all hours. Once I informed management of the noise, it was usually addressed and eventually the music would be turned down or off.
No problem with parking but I was an early bird. The few nights I arrive after 11pm I had to park way on the end of the complex but I did not let it bother me.
I did not have to take the elevator or walk the stairs, so don't know the status.
When I requested apartment maintenance it was down immediately.
I lived there alone for the two years and no one bothered me. I felt safe.
