Well I moved to Miami for school and the thought of living on campus with the small space had me down.
I decided to start my search and found what seemed to be an extremly nice and remodeled complex called Design Place.
When I first walked in I was taked away by the beauty and overall look of the model appartments.
I was looking for a 3BD, 2Bath and was happy to know that it was so affordable.
I was told by the woman showing the model that the one I would be getting would be the exact same way only without the furnishings and colored walls.
I immediatly gave my money order for the background check to begin.
They then asked for my deposit which I was somewhat confused as to why they needed it so soon.
I ran out and got a money order for $400 and returned quickly.
I asked if I would be able to see the exact appartment and was told again it looked the same as what I was shown.
I had a move in date of the 31st to lock in a lower price and the 30th to sign the lease and hand over the money.
I called several days before my expected move in date to view the appartment in which they agreed.
I was taken to an appartment that had many problems with the outside alone.
Falling appart molding ont he building and roofing tiles on the side as well.
Once I enteded a smell of to many people and body arose witht the suddel hint of sewage. We walked up the steps and opened the door to find the appartment being half the size of what we were shown.
It was a living room or a dinning room, their was not enough room for both.
The kitchen was so small the door hit the facing wall once opened, the bathroom was not maintained and the room felt full of mold.
The AC units are by law not fit for living conditions and will not do much cooling off in the hot summer months.
The man we delt with said the average cost for eletric is $100 but doing the math for the summer months it is looked at to be nearly $300.
I would never in a million years move into this place after seeing it first hand.
The only thing I can do is hope many future appartment lookers see what I have posterd and realize that "D Place" means DISGUSTING PLACE! I almost forgot..It is a high crime area along with constant drug dealing, not a place for a family along with the million stray animals around including rats, cats, mice, cokroachs as well.
