Fairly Decent for Price

Okay, so let me tell you the real deal.

Many of the posters here have posted valid points.
1.

Roaches.

Yes, there are roaches, but there is a roach problem everywhere in Miami.

Even with new buildings on lower stories especially.

We boric acid our entire apartment and I've been living here for 2 years and haven't seen a roach.

We take out our trash every night, and we clean up the kitchen and sink after cooking.

Bathroom trash is regularly taken out.

Nothing sweet left around.

You do these simple things, and you wont see a roach.

Promise.
2.

Maintenance.

Super fast and effective.

Now if you treat the maintenance workers like crap because you have some alter-ego, that's your problem.

They wont be so helpful then, but I'm not sure you would either if someone gave you an attitude.

3.

Rent - for its location, the price is pretty awesome.

Great for anyone working or studying at the UM/Jackson medical campus.

You WALK to work, because the building is on the campus.

Daycare downstairs, which is great if you have little tots and you have to work on campus.

Also accessible to some courthouses and law offices in the area as well.

4.

Safety - its not really an issue.

When the economy started dipping, there were some break ins into the cars in the garage (happened to a lot of places in Miami in fact), and now they have security scanning the place more regularly.

Homeless people were an issue as they wandered into the building sometimes, even looking for a quiet place to sleep in the hallways.

There are cameras now, and routine checks in the halls - so that problem is over as well.

Security is much better now.
5.

Space - some of the apartments are pretty spacious.

For the square footage you're getting, its much cheaper than renting elsewhere.

6.

Smells - sometimes the hallways smell because of all the Indian and Oriental cooking that goes on - the building is very ethnic, which to me is a plus.

The smell can be a turnoff for some people.

7.

A number of offices in the building, so its not entirely apartments.

Your neighbors are all doctors, medical students, or researchers.

Fair enough to say that you should make friends with your neighbors.

You never know when you're going to croack.
