I have been extremely impressed with the apartments here at Doral Pointe. As a single woman, I have never felt "unsafe" arriving home after dark. The grounds are clean & well-kept. I NEVER hear anyone through the walls. And, the 2 BR layout is terrific for roommates b/c the bedrooms are located at opposite ends of a 24 ft Living room -- great for extra privacy (especially since each bedroom has its own bathroom!!).
The W/D in unit are terrific!

Utilities are reasonable. Electric is usually $80-$150/mo (and my roommate keeps it very cool... about 73F). Water is usually $30/mo (As of Spring 2002).

Now for negatives....

1. Yes, some parking spaces are tight. I have a compact car, so it really doesn't bother me.

2. I've noticed a decline in maintenance response time with the change in ownership from Reef Properties to Lincoln Properties. It's not terrible (believe me, I KNOW terrible!) -- before they were excellent, now they are adequate.

3. Some guards speak limited English. This may be a "South Florida" issue ... but for those of you relocating from the North (as I did), beware that many auxillary staff (guards, groundspeople) speak fluent Spanish and a few key phrases in English. This is common, though, for most of the Miami area and NOT unique to Doral Pointe.

All in all, I love living here. I would have gladly renewed my lease if I hadn't gotten a job in New England. (By the way, they were going to raise my lease only $15 ... keep in mind that I always paid my rent early and never had a complaint filed against me).

I *STRONGLY RECOMMEND* this apartment complex to anyone!
