Prepare for rental increase after increase

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
My experince here started off with tears and it ended with more tears. I moved 1600 miles from Michigan to Miami last April. I was so glad that Aimco had a coast to coast transfer program and the people in the office at my last apartment were more than helpful, however the people at four quarters were the compleate opposite! We started off on the wrong foot when 2 weeks before I came down to sign the lease they told me I was going to be affected by a rental increase, I couldn't believe this could happen since I had already put down mony and signed some preliminary paperwork (I have since spoken to an attorny and basicly I got screwed) but they assured me that those documents, not being the actual lease, were not legaly binding. So, with no where else to go and a rental truck already rented and a new job expecting me I sucked it up and paid the extra $$. Now, a year later they are asking for even more money and I have been getting the run around for almost a month as to how much my increase is going to be. After speaking to the manager last weekend (well I was speaking, she was screeming... then I was crying)I was informed that I was being unreasonable and that the only thing they could do for me was clean my carpets and touch up my paint. I'm sorry but $600 more per year seems a little much for a carpet cleaning (and they are required to do that every year anyway!). So, I am writing this review, I have sent an e-mail to customer relations, and I have called the 800 number to report the evil manager. Also, the street lights in the parking lot were often burned out, I could hear as well as smell my neighbors, there were lots of dogs barking all the time, my appliances were old and dirty, my cabnets were peeling apart, the water is gross, the trash is always piling up and smelling and it's located right next to the pool, and my electric bills were over $100 for a one bedroom untill I complained enough and my a/c unit leaked enough that they came out and gave it a tune up or something, the thing sounded like a MAC truck backing into my bedroom when it came on, I also saw a giant roach! I am moving to Doral, it is like a palace in comparison and only $100 more per month and I know that not one dime of my money is going towards the B*%#'s salary. I hope this helps in your decision to not rent here!!!
