Excellent building; excellent location; but not as great as before

I've been living at the Hamilton for eleven years now, and agree wholeheartedly with the 04/25/2004 review entitled "Highrise Opulence." The location is great, the amenities excellent, the landscaping beautiful and the architecture is possibly the most interesting that I have seen in an apartment building in any city! (The new glass-walled Miami highrises don't do it for me, sorry). The atrium-style lobby is simply amazing, and I never tire of it, even after all this time.
Unfortunately, it is 2008, not 2004, and the building has changed for the worse. The contingent of residents has steadily gone downhill; the building was full of young (and older) professionals four years ago, but the demographics have currently shifted to a lower class. About a year ago, the building has also been transferred to new management, which has "cheapened" the feel of the building: the glassed-in portion of the lobby has been transformed into a rental office (an entirely inappropriate place for it!) and about a dozen new video surveillance cameras have been installed around the building, including in the *elevators* (also entirely inappropriate in a luxury building). Management has also forced security to sticker cars parked in the lobby driveway; before, there was higher tolerance for this. I was on a first name basis with old management; the new management does not make me feel like a valued resident, but rather someone to be surveilled and disciplined.
However, despite my displeasure with the changes at the Hamilton, it remains the best all-around deal in the city: big apartments, reasonable price, amazing location and views. Nothing else comes close.
