Le Parc is SOLD!

Years at this apartment: 1997 - 2003
I have lived at LeParc since March 97 and still reside here. We have the most expensive apt which has increased $350 since living here AS WELL AS having to pay our own water and sewer each month. Parking is not a problem in our area of the complex. However, my vehicle was broken into 3 times and when the police came, they said nothing could be done about it, they had more important crimes to worry about and they could give me a report for insurance purposes. We used to have a working gate and 24 hour security when I moved in. Since then, Rent has increased, and "services" and security has been taken away. Then they painted the White complex Pepto Bismol Pink. Someone must have been smoking crack when they picked out that color. This past summer, they finally painted it a tan/brown color which isn't great but much better than it was. I purchased a new car and the dealer tags expired New Years Day. My new car was towed for being one day expired. Yet I sit and look at 6 month expired tags on cars in the lot and broken down heaps in the lot that aren't touched. Unfortunately, each time I visit the office, there is a new manager who is more clueless than the last. This past summer, we had a great manager that got things done named Stacey. She was cleaning the place up and then they let her go. She was "rocking the boat" too much. I found out today, by accident, from my postman, that they have sold our complex to outside investors who are turning it Condo. They aren't notifying anyone until Nov 1st (and I'm sure it will be a notice taped to the door, if that) that there is 60 days to purchase or get out. The legal matters surrounding this are the leases and if they must honor the lease. Either way, I can't imagine anyone buying these run down apts. When they remodeled the apts (put tile in, new microwaves, new stoves, tv's in the kitchens) they said they wouldn't do it for existing residents but would remodel the apts as people moved out. My argument was I am a long time resident and I should get some perks. The carpet was not new when I moved in nor was the blinds, etc. I got a new stove. That was it. And they tiled the apt above me (people who have lived here longer than me) and now I hear every move they make since anything that drops on a tile floor sounds like the walls are coming down on you. I can say that I am pleased with the maintenience. Our a/c used to go out all the time, the guys would come over quickly (even on weekends) and we eventually got a new A/c unit. Unfortunately, if my boyfriend isn't here, I can't speak to the maintenience guys since they only speak Spanish. I would have to call my boyfriend, put him on the phone with the guys, and have them discuss what was wrong. We also had a flood in our ground floor apt in May 2002 from a toilet over flowing. We just returned home from a long weekend and found all my antique furniture sitting in water. The water went from the master bathroom, into the closets (anything on the floor of the closet was ruined), through the bedroom and livingroom (causing our huge entertainment center to have water damage and warp). We called emergency (granted this started at 10pm on a Monday night) and waited for 30 minutes before they showed up (and found out he lives in the complex). We had people hear until 2am vaccuuming out water and moving furniture. The carpet was molded, mildew and they still refused to replace it. We've been looking for a place to move to for a year (I work from home and need office space). Now that they are about to lower the boom on people that they must BUY their apt or get out, I guess this will be the push we need. lGjq8RUBjvsZjkb5ueji
