We moved to Metropolis back in 1997 -- it was very different back then. It was quiet, few people were living here and there were hardly any problems, so to speak of.
Fast forward two years, this place has become extremely "ghetto". A lot of college students and rather unsavory people have moved in, which has adversely affected the quality of life here for the normal, respectable residents. Anyway, let me break down the "problems" of Metropolis for you:
- Drunken / loud people in the pool @ all hours. The rules state that people aren't supposed to use the pool after dark, but people not only use the pool, but they act like imbeciles down there, screaming, hollering and playing music. Security won't do a thing about it, neither will management.
- People speeding through the parking garage like it's the Grand Prix. Now I know this is Miami, home of the reckless, careless driver, but speeding through a parking garage simply isn't cool. I have had so many near misses, witnessed a couple of crashes. The valet here are some of the worst culprits -- do not let them anywhere near your car, if you're a guest.
- Paper thin walls, which means you literally hear your neighbors fart next door. Come to think of it, our neighbors are loud anyway and constantly play loud music with bass and again, neither security or management will do squat about it.
- Ridiculous rules & regulations, e.g. demanding that if you move out, you leave an $800 deposit for any "damage" you may cause the elevators.
- Shoddy construction, faulty appliances.
Fortunately, I only rent here, but if I'd paid in excess of $250,000 for a 1BR condo (that is the minimum these holes in the wall were going for, prior to the recession), I'd feel robbed of $249,999 of my hard earned / borrowed cash.
Of course, Metropolis is not unique in its ability to both suck and blow at the same time -- it is so typical of many other condo/apartment complexes in Miami.
