Dodged a bullet - wouldn't rent here! $500 deposit is a LIE

I almost rented at One Broadway, but changed my mind after learning there is a building going up directly east (which is why I could negotiate a lower rent). In addition they LIE and say they only want a $500 security deposit, but you must have to have a credit score of 800 to get that. I sent the $500 security deposit and $100 application fee, and then after receiving the money they told me they would need 2 months deposit in addition to first month's rent. I have a credit score of 700!!! So they are sending me back the $500 deposit (if they don't they will regret it) and I am out $100 app fee. I could live in MUCH nicer, newer places with 2 months deposit anywhere in Brickell. And, from what I've heard and read on this web site, I definitely dodged a bullet by not renting here. Out-of-towners beware - they do not rent with just a $500 deposit. Don't waste your time.

I agree that you could rent a much better place to live anywhere in Brickell with two months of rent BUT One Broadway is a nice place to live for several reasons: first, while other apartments are managed by different owners and not by a single company as in OB, they rarely take care of your needs promptly in other places; second, anywhere else you rent you will have to pay at least 2 months of rent deposit (first and last) as well but guess what? only one month is refundable because usually the other month goes to the realtor fee; so be careful to what seems tricky and really is. I've lived in One Broadway for a while and I wish I never had to move out, I also lived in another apartment building before and it was very different in many aspects (even trash management and parking), besides I went to about 10 other places before deciding for OB and I don't regret my decission at all. Good luck with your search!!
