Not too great for the price

Years at this apartment: 2001 - 2002
I lived at Pepper Cove for two years. The grounds are pretty & well-kept, the parking was never a problem, and the apartments were spacious. However, when we toured the unit we would be renting, we were told that the carpet would be replaced before we moved in, but when we moved in, the carpet had just been dyed in places to cover stains. This became a problem because the dye started to wear off after about 3 months. Then, our entire building had a bad problem with mildew in the closets, and maintenance never did anything about it. Also, the hike in rent for 2002 was tremendous -- we could have had a waterfront apartment in Coconut Grove for the same price! However, we didn't have the time or money to move, so we stuck it out another year there. We were promised a steam cleaning of our carpet for renewing our lease, but that never happened. And when we moved out, they charged us to replace the carpet because of the stains that the dye had rubbed off of! Overall, it's still a decent place, but you can live much more affordably out that far in Kendall.
