Portofino is no doubt attractive from the outside and has a good location, but inside, there are a lot of problems. I ran into many problems while living there, such as the elevators constantly breaking down, each floor has a pretty nasty smell to it for some reason, the carpeting in the hallways was pretty worn out and stained, the screen doors and outlets were always malfunctioning. One time, I went to unplug my CD player and the outlet exploded in my face, and sent sparks and smoke everywhere. Most importantly though, is the security, or lack-there-of. I know dozons of people who's apartments have been broken into, especially during holidays, and the theives are usually other tenants! At the front gate, they just let anybody in! There's no security outside each building which would be nice. Anyway, I see all the break-ins and robberies as the biggest problem with Portofino, so if you don't mind that, then Portofino won't look so bad to you.

Hope you read this, really. I am one of those tenant that got burglarized. I am so outraged by their complete false aadvertising that I am looking to get a petition going so that I can sue them and get my broken lease off my credit report. My unit, by the way, was the FIFTH one hit that week, as told to me by the guys who came to fix my demolished front door. THERE HAS GOT TO BE SOMETHING WE CAN DO!

I am amazed to see how people can blame an apartment community for their security. In case you did not know, you live in a metropolitan city where crime is very common and it is up to you and the police department to answer for the crimes. Portofino has a 24 hour guard and a night guard which is more than any other community I know. Crime happens anywhere even at posh communities that charge an arm and a leg. Consider yourself lucky and stop blaming people who have nothing to do with it. Why don't you go talk to the city Mayor, or better yet, maybe the POLICE department may tell you why they are not doing THEIR job.
