I see all these reviews and some things I agree with and some things I disagree with. Objectively, I can tell you a few things about this place. I just moved here from New England close to a year ago, not knowing anything about Miami. I was really nervous about my new place, b/c I rented it without even seeing it. When I got here I was very pleasantly surprised. The aparment was great size! Very pretty. TONS of closet space. Nice size balcony. Great bedroom space. The bathroom with a dual entrance was very cute and convenient. The kitchen is not HUGE but still comfortable. I opted to have the upgraded apartment which included a few more luxurious touches cosmetically, as well as a dishwasher. I found that it was comparable to what I saw in the model (without paint and decorations of course!)
I can see how some things within the community can be misinterpreted. I'm the kind of person that doesn't pass the buck and tries to find someone to blame for everything. For instance, the train... it is very predictable. I commute to work as well I know what time NOT to leave in order to not get stuck behind the train. It's not the train's fault you're late. Wake up early! I live closest to the train and I don't find it disrupts me at all. Sound does happen to carry well in the parking lot, it could be people just having a conversation and I'll hear it. But if my windows are closed, I don't hear a thing. I can't say I have ever been awaken from my sleep b/c of the train. Mind you, I'm not a light sleeper, either.
It's been my experience that every day the community as been getting better and better, as well as the area around the community. My building was under construction when I moved in, but it had only gotten better every day. Shortly after that, all the washers and dryers were changed to new ones. I haven't had many problems with the apartment at all. I had my fan not working and a leaky A/C. Both of which were taken care the next day.
As far as crime goes, I haven't experienced anything myself, but to think that nothing will EVER happen is just dumb. I lived in an urban city practically my entire life and I know things can happen anywhere. Nice neighborhood or not. I think this place is no different. I don't see any illegal activities going on, no music blasting outside, my neighbors are all really nice.
One thing people need to realize is that this is SOUTH FLORIDA! It's hot. It's HUMID. And we get hurricanes! With hurricanes come power outages. How can you possibly blame that on the community'' And even when we do lose power we're back up and running in less than 24 hours. There are people that had their power out for DAYS!!! I mean, I know I'm easy going, but people just need to GET WITH THE PROGRAM.
This is a nice place, considering price, locations, and the alternative. Next time you want to complain take a look around at the other subpar communities in this area. This is obviously the best around... Assuming you want to stay under $1500 dollars (which is VERY easy to do in Florida, just go a couple blocks east of here). Maybe it's not "LUXURY", but you're not exactly renting at the Trump International. And if you want that, then rent there.
This is a great place for the average easy going joe, who wants a nice place, nice location, without paying some ungodly amount in rent.
It's just appalling that someone would go out of their way to blow something so terribly out of proportion. I suppose it's like they always say "Bad news travels fast". People are more likely to tell you about bad experiences than the great ones.
The way I see it is this... Either as compared to every bad review I've read, I'm VERRRRY VERRRRRY Lucky, or all around this a nice place to live. Just draw your own conclusions. People have bad and good things to say about everything. Just put GOD in google and see the variety you find.
With this, I hope to balance the scales.

Your comments mirror mine, but only when I first moved in. Crime is rampant there, lad. Insure your belongings and get an alarm or a rabid dog. It's only a matter of time before your place gets broken into. My apt was the FIFTH one in one week in the same building! Police was sure that it's an inside job. Wish you well. Be safe.
