I am a current resident and REGRET not having paid mind to the negative feedback on here.
Firstly, the type of people they rent to is questionable. I am from NY and can deal with all types of people, but there have been many occasions when I have not felt safe walking to my apartment. Apart from that there are a bunch of residents who have no problem littering and basically defacing the property...its disgusting.
Security rarely screens your visitors and will let anyone in so be prepared to have people show up unannounced. It is a pet-friendly property so you would assume given the $1000 per dog fee (plus the almost equally ridiculous cat fee) they require they would have more frequent janitorial services, but that is not the case. The corridors are too dark and always smell like wet dog...everywhere. The carpeting throughout needs to be removed or replaced like ASAP. There are about 16 units per floor and only some floors have more than 1 washer/dryer (which btw...are out of order alot). Speaking of the laundry room, its always a mess and some moron always forget his/her laundry in the dryer and it will remain there (there being the floor or on top of a machine) for about a week or so. I wouldn't swim in the pool if you paid me too. For some reason I never get my mail (but in all fairness that may just be speaking towards the service quality of the postal service).
With regards to Leasing, they can be a little more professional in how they carry themselves considering they are advertising "luxury living" and can improve on the quality of service. Although minor, none of the repairs that the rep and I agreed were to be done, have been done (its almost been a year) and I'm still waiting for a copy of my Lease. Plus it would have been a good idea to give me access cards that were actually programmed, inform me that the laundry card must be purchased and where, and if they give new residents a list of which buildings have the laundry machines (not all do).
On a positive note, the floor plan is great and i have TONS of closet space, the one time I submitted a maintenance request (on my own without the "help" of a Portofino rep) they addressed it immediately. The company which oversees the parking does an excellent job. Although super ghetto, my building isn't the most ghetto of the five which is something to be thankful for. The location is great....everything is literally right there. The landscaping is very well kept. The sound of the train is not that bad.
I know this was kind of long, but these are things you do not find out until its too late. If you are considering renting here...be weary, ask a ton of questions, inspect every nook & cranny of the apartment, talk to residents, and if possible come late afternoon on a weekend so that you can see who your potential neighbors are.

Yes I definitely agree with you as far as the pet fees and the amount of rent for this location. But on the positive side the people in the leasing office are very helpful and the guys there are pretty hot as well.

that response must have been written by one of their people....instead of being on the computer trying to fool people into leasing space at this dump why don't you guys focus on making improvements to the property and providing better service to the tenants you currently have!!!??? if you must be reminded, a percentage of our rent pays your unmerited salaries!!!
