I was given 5 different price quotes for the apartment I wanted to rent. When I first showed up, I was told the rent was 750.00 for a 1/1. 15 minutes later it was 850.00(for the same option). I had to pay a pet rent of 40.00 per month a 300.00 pet deposit. I seen a demo apartment with wood floors and new frig and oven. I knew the floors were fake and it looked very odd next to shelves that have not been up dated from the 70's. BUT... it was the safest place I had seen.
I went out of town and they called me to informed me about a possible unit that I could move into. They charged my credit card 100.00 for a holding fee, with out my permission. When I got back into town, I was told I could not see the apartment, but I had to put 1832.40 down. Then I was told, "Oh, I am sorry, but we can not hold that apartment. We will have you move into another one, but you can not see that one either. The person still lives there."
It was not that big of a deal and after looking for 2 weeks at crack house and other over price dumpes, it was still the best option. I don't know the area and it takes me a long time to drive down. I had the movers picked out and I was ready to go. However, I decided to drive down a week later to see if I could view the new apartment. The first thing I noticed was the smell of mold. There were no wood floors and the frig and over were old. A large spider was hanging out in the middle of the living room. The Elevator still did not work next to the unit I was going to move into. I was so upset that I stormed out of the apartment. They kept lieing and I was mad. I made a mistake by taking the stairs. It smelled very bad of urin. I knew I could not move in.
But... It gets better....
The next day I drove back down. I spoke to the manager. She thought I signed the lease. She told me there would be no refund for the 1900.00 (holding fees, app fees, and the other stuff) that I had ready paid. She started to say, "You signed a lease and you will be responsible....." I cut her off. I started to get alittle out of hand. I told her that I was going to the bank to cancle the check and to put up faulse charges on my credit card. She kicked me out of the office to have a closed door meeting with the sales lady. A few minutes later I was able to get 1800.00 back. She would not give me the holding fee back. Another lie, since I was told that I would have the refunded after 72 hours of see the appartmetn. She had no choise but to give me the last check back since the check had not been cashed. If she had the check cashed, she would not have given it back.

Her name is Tania Leon and I completely agreed with the above. This is her strategy and I recognize her manner of doing business. She always twists the case and makes one look like an idiot.
